“Hm?” She glances down at her shirt before brushing a few stray grass blades, “Ah no worries, this is an old top anyway.”

Sayaka gets up from the ground and lightly dusts off her skirt before giving him a smile again and bows. “Again, thank you for the help. It’s just been a long while since I’ve done photography.” The woman perks up, “Ah, I never introduced myself. I’m Sayaka.”

“Ah...” He’s slightly relieved of that, though still feels partially bad for her having a now slightly dirty shirt. At least it didn’t seem like there’d be stains upon it.

       ❝     OH ,  you woke up !  sorry if you feel sore .  you were heavy ,  so i had to drag you all the way here .     ❞  

         there’s a brief ,  split  -  mouth grin ,  pink like cotton candy ,  gaiety scaling high atop her polished cheeks  –  a gesture that bleeds into the root of her words ,  syllables tainted with excess honey .  keen eyes follow him ,   anticipating his movements   &   getting up from her knees .  mary did not quite expect it to be such a hard drop from down the toybox ,  she kept a note to apologize about it later . 

       ❝     that reminds me !  i found a lighter in your pocket .  it’s dangerous ,  so i took it out .  ❞

When he comes to, he lets out a groan. His body aches and a hand goes to his head. It hurt, a lot, more than he thought. As he tries to recall the last thing, his eyes begin to focus on the girl before him. He felt like he should be ready, right on his feet and he’s trying to with the energy he has.

{ ♡ }    Preposterous? Her ears perked at that and her cloudy eyes lit up with interest. She leaned almost conspiratorially closer, one hand pressed to her chest. “Oh, that’s alright. Some of the truest things in life are the most difficult to believe.” 

   She glanced over her shoulder, to the open mouth of the gallery. “That place?” She jerked a thumb back in the direction of the building. She seemed perhaps a bit surprised, but otherwise, neutral. There was no judgement or skepticism. 

   She was afraid of mirrors, after all, and she knew full well there was nothing frightening behind them. “Why? What happened?” Her voice dropped low, wanting to keep the conversation private for Garry’s sake.

   It felt important and secretive, like something that was meant to be kept quiet.

A nervous laugh escapes as she leans closer. She really did have an interest in what he had to say? Even if it were terribly unusual? He couldn’t tell if that were a good or bad thing. Perhaps a good thing- who ever wanted to listen to a man’s ramblings about some otherworldly experience?

“That is quite true. Truth is stranger than fiction, as they say.” And he never thought he’d be believing that now. Garry gives a slight nod to the location in question, his eyes wandering over to the entrance before back to her. “Yes, that place.”

{🌹}: “You can borrow my copy if you want! There’s so many pretty flowers in the book, and they have nice meanings too! Mom has her own copy, she uses it to make the flower arrangements everyday!”

Once they reached the patch full of the purple blooms, Ib immediately circles the patch, attempting to find a good spot to place her canvas, the child also attempts to find a good angle to paint the flowers. She settles down the canvas once she finally finds the spot she’s looking for. 

She motions for Garry to stand next to her excitedly, although she pouts when she learns that he doesn’t know what flowers they are himself. 

{🌹}: “Aw… that’s too bad, I guess I’ll try to find out what they are when I read the book again, or maybe Mom knows what they are once I show her the painting.”

One would expect the child to be carrying a stool or at least an easel where she can place her canvas in, instead, she sits down on the grass, giddily patting the empty spot beside her for Garry to sit in.

{🌹}: “Garry, I want to learn how to mix different shades of purple together, can you teach me? These flowers remind me of your hair!”

“I can? Really? That’s very sweet of you, Ib! I’ll be sure to take very good care of it. But, if you need to use it first or anything, please do so.” Even if her mother had a copy, it seemed like it was used for work. So, it was best if she didn’t end up needing it the same time as her mother.

He could only admire these flowers, making a mental note to try and paint one of these in his free time. How the girl had stumbled upon these precious things, he’d never know. “Ah, yeah. I’m sure the next time one of us will know the name.”

When she finally settles in a spot, he walks over to stand beside her. Part of him wished he could run home, grab a spare chair or stool for her, but leaving her unattended was not something he wanted to do. So, for now, he ends up sitting down beside her, setting her kit down in between them.
