We always want to be precise and honest with our community. Masks cannot provide 100% protection against a virus, but they can reduce the risk of transmission. Virus particles are tiny and can theoretically pass through a respirator filter, so a risk always remains. However, masks like ours are an effective means of capturing larger droplets from coughing and sneezing, which carry the virus inside them, in what are known as aerosols. This is a key transmission route of Covid-19. It's particularly beneficial when there’s an airtight seal, which ours has. There are many systems and tools on the market which pursue the goal of optimizing the productivity of logistic processes. These include mobile robots and mobile transport robots. However, the complexity of these systems makes it difficult to measure them. Investment decisions are therefore strategic and usually of long-term nature.

What role can mobile robots play in achieving the goals of Industry 4.0 and how can they optimize the productivity of logistics processes? An important aspect here is flexibility in terms of production volumes. Here, small series and prototype production are the focus of the companies. An essential component is also the optimization of machine utilization and the reduction of downtimes.

Many medium-sized companies still work in single shifts. This means that the machines only run or are used to capacity for a third of the time. If you compare this time with the downtime caused by a tool change, this is a relatively long period of time in comparison. The task of mobile robots or transport robots is to help optimize these processes. The combination of both robots within the process achieves a synergy effect. Material is straightened in central material stores during a shift. Instead of automating each individual machine, the mobile robot is used to change workpieces. Solve the biggest problem in beekeeping today

The 1.6 millimetre small #varroa mite is the biggest problem of today's #beekeeping worldwide. The #parasite nests in the beehives, sucks out larvae and transmits harmful viruses. Without treatment a #colony of #bees dies within three years. Until now, bee colonies have therefore been treated with chemicals. These acids damage the bees and thus become a cause of bee mortality themselves. Residues of it can also be found in our #honey when used incorrectly.

The core piece against the #Varroa is a #heating #wire, which is inserted by #Vatorex directly into the middle walls. Thus the entire #incubation #chamber is equipped with heating wires except for the edge honeycombs (normally 8 heating honeycombs).

Our sophisticated electronics register all connected combs and heat them fully automatically and repetitively every 16 days to 41 °C. You switch the system on in April and off in October - there's nothing to do in between.

"A #mechanical #device pretended that #people had to #react #to it. This meant that the same cuts, fixed handles were determined by #machine," explains Jürgen Bönig, research assistant at the Hamburg #Museum #der #Arbeit, who did his doctorate on the assembly line. "It was a #new #work #organization that #increased #performance and made it possible #for #unskilled #workers, rather than skilled workers, to take over the work".

This working principle fascinated Ford. In May 1913, he started out in his car factory with a mechanical sliding belt. "The individual parts were pushed by hand," Bönig said. The principle was improved more and more, "the work steps had to be precisely timed and coordinated with each other". It was a difficult process, which was honed by the end of the year. "At the beginning of 1914, the electric assembly line was added. The parts were now pulled by a motorized external drive," says Bönig. The finished end product was the T-model. Tin Lizzy, Blechliesel, was the name of the car whose new production method saved time and money. Instead of twelve hours, it took only two and a half hours to assemble the car. The price dropped from 850 to 370 dollars.

But the workers were not very enthusiastic about the monotonous and strenuous job. "They ran away in rows," Bönig knows. So Ford lured them with good wages, paid five dollars a day and guaranteed an eight-hour shift. His theory: Whoever earns better can afford more, and primarily the cheaper mass goods.
