TTRPGs players, big question now: how often does your player character's gender match your own
1 - I (almost) exclusively play characters whose gender matches mine
2 - I mostly, but not always, play characters whose gender matches mine
3 - I have an even or mostly even spread of genders across my characters
4 - I mostly, but not always, play characters whose gender differs from mine
5 - I (almost) exclusively play characters whose gender differs from mine

pappy aiming his gun over wealwell’s shoulder and wealwell immediately going into gun support stance OH MY GOD THEY’RE EVOLVING
In the words of Lou Wilson:
Damn, Gotch.
Zac playing a badass looking ex-con gunslinging cowboy but then we meet him for real and he's immediately talking about piss and his divorce and he's kinda anxious and jumpy and takes his 38 year old dog with him everywhere and everyone calls him Pappy. No notes.

I want to talk about one specific thing the intrepid heroes are killing it at in this first episode. Now, there's absolutely no problem with information in-story being presented by the DM, as in "you remember that.." "you know that this is.." "you've done this before and.." because you aren't ACTUALLY your character and do not have all information about the world in your memory. But in this first episode, the intrepid heroes have shown that they KNOW this world. Sure, Brennan gives information, but a not insignificant amount of the exposition in this episode was delivered BY THE PLAYERS, IN-CHARACTER. Titles of Monty's books are said out loud with ease. Daisuke organically suggests "Do you think he's in Bellenuit?" already with preexisting knowledge about him, and they have an in-character conversations about Bellenuit with complete familiarity of the place and what it's like. When Monty hears that there's a ship, he asks "Is it the Kingfisher?" because he already knows that that's a ship Marya has, which HASN'T been mentioned by name yet. In-character, this is PERFECT in how effortlessly it establishes their knowledge, and makes character naturally feel like real people living in this world; and out of character, it's a testament to the effort and enthusiasm and skill put into it.
absolute youngest of seven energy right out the gate
brennan dug his own grave introducing a pathetic little rich boy with a weird name and not expecting the party that would drag gilear to the ends of the earth to want to put him in a handbag and take him with them
“Olethra” goes so fucking hard as a name for a trans woman though. It’s the feminine form of the ancient Greek “olethros” which means “destruction” with a positive connotation, wiping away the old to make way for something new that’s SO COOL.

brennan experiencing the horrors of every ih season immediately by giving an npc a slightly too funny name
In the words of Lou Wilson:
Damn, Gotch.
Not a bad bit of beach reading!
"You are the author of three or four of my favorite books."
can you tell the decline of the Montgomery LaMontgommery books was my favorite bit of the episode

kind of obsessed with rowdy as a euphemism for queer in cloudward ho. you're rowdy. you're too loud. you cause trouble. you make me uncomfortable. you're not being how i want you to be. you go places and you do things that i don't think are proper. you don't live how i think you should live. and you're so in my face about it. you're one of those..... rowdies. like come ON that's so good.
