You know what really frustrates me about this? We’re the largest minority but we don’t get talked about much. If you call someone a racist they know what it means but if you call someone an ableist most likely they won’t know what it means. Most people think what makes being disabled hard is the actual disability but it’s honestly the fact that we have to live in a world that doesn’t accommodate us- whether it’s the people in society that don’t accept us or that our limitations make it harder for us to navigate society. Generally people think that there aren’t very many people who are prejudice against disabled people just because they aren’t or they don’t see it often. Most people don’t even recognize ableist behavior because it’s so ingrained in our culture. Just because you don’t see it or can’t recognize it doesn’t mean it’s not happening and doesn’t mean its any less damaging. 

Very true & some derogatory words that are used are seen as acceptable than words with racial connotations but are just as offensive but get duly get ignored.
