“i love it when actors connect so much with their part that they do something magical and that moment was the two of them,” creator derek haas tells entertainment weekly. “that was not in the script. they didn't do it the first couple of times and then jensen put his hand out. i had goosebumps.” for ackles, it was about reading into what the moment meant for his character. “i remember it being the first time there was that facade kind of washing away for this guy in front of her in a real way,” he says. “up to that point, there had been flirtation, but not in a real way. i thought that was a moment where it's out of character for him to maybe reach out for that connection. but how great is human connection when you're feeling vulnerable?”
