“Radar” (self-applied alias) was acquired from a Murkoff Foundation flyer posted in the maintenance corridor of a Brooklyn subway station, based on what she has told me during our one-on-one session.

Note: It is unclear how many candidates observed or considered the listing-though it is clear from the applicant’s own admission that she had enough confidence to call and inquire.

Piper is incredibly outgoing. She’ll smile and make small talk with anyone in close proximity. Some don’t mind the positivity; others will brush her off. But she’ll keep trying to make ‘friends. Moses often reminds her that, this is no place for such commodity.

She shouldn’t be here.

But, nobody else in New York would take a female mechanic. Especially not one with any scholarly documents.

She has no diploma, no G.E.D, nothing. The only concept of a ‘teacher’ she has, is her father, who was a mechanic. Her mother ran a brothel, I put that together with what she told me, quote: “My momma always went out late at night to go to the theater down the street. She never let me come to her shows, though.”

Seemingly, her parents are hard-working despite their..occupations.

(Note: Her father gave her the nickname ‘Radar’, but she doesn’t remember why. It’s also worth noting that her father is from Poland, while her mother is from Texas(hence, Pipers accent and way of speech.)

With all of this, however, Piper has exceeded multiple expectations work-wise. Even though she misspells every other word while making notes for various projects. I’ll have to gift her a dictionary at some point. I cannot stand deciphering her chicken-scratch.

Piper has also taken a liking to a rabbit she calls ‘Mandy’. She found the lone creature hopping in the hallways, looking to escape an on-going experiment. We let her keep it. As long as she keeps up her high-quality work, I don’t care about the vermin she keeps in her dormitory.
