All that remained of his second sense was a constant ringing - and no matter how hard he tried, it never stopped. It was during these years that Algernonβs already varmint-like personality developed further into something extremely temperamental and spiteful. He would snap at others in lulls of unbound fury for not understanding him, yelling in an attempt to be heard, or the worst of it, giving him pity. It made him feel weak.Β
