Help.
I'm Mohammed Al-Amoudi, I'm 33 years old. I'm the father of a child born in the war. I used to go to help. I can't make my family not starve, but unfortunately the occupation targeted me and they saw a bullet in my shoulder that led to my joint to fragmentation. And now I can't move and I can't bring food to my family and I can't bring the treatment and I have to move abroad to receive treatments and I also have to travel abroad to install a new joint and bones and I can't buy a painkiller here. No one can imagine what we live. My child is starving and my wife can't do anything. I ask you to help to feed my family. Every
donation will make a difference with us.

“The ad was in a women’s magazine and if I remember correctly, was for a perfume. It featured a white woman lying in bed with a black man. The man’s shirtless back was to the viewer, making only his taut, muscular form and powerful-looking arms and shoulders visible. He was faceless, unidentified. The woman looked sultrily at us from over his mysterious form, satisfaction writ large over her features. She had partaken of whatever delights this man had to offer and was smugly, luxuriantly basking in the afterglow. The ad copy was, “Take a walk on the wild side.” My teacher used the ad as an example of how marketers can use certain words and images to convey large amounts of information subtly and effectively. A white woman having sex with a black man? How risqué. The implication: be a little like that woman. Spray on that perfume and feel like the kind of girl who has sex with faceless, muscular black men in ritzy hotel rooms because it’s an adventure, a thrill, a risk, something illicitly pleasurable. These are the semiotics of race. This is why columnists will trip over themselves not to call Lupita Nyong’o or Angela Basset “beautiful”, choosing instead to use terms that call to mind a kind of savage, animalistic magnetism: fierce, striking, edgy, eye-catching. Words like “pretty” and “beautiful” and “cute” are for white women whose bodies and sexualities are not seen as wild, animal, or untamed. Black men are hulking, threatening, thuggish; white men are charming, sexy heartthrobs with hearts of gold. Brown women are exotic, with their “honey-coloured” skin and their “mystical”, “enchanting” beauty, unlike their white counterparts, who are held up as not only ideal, but knowable and safe. White people are beautiful; non-white people are dangerous.”

Long gone from their home in San Francisco, the California pipevine swallowtail is back thanks to one man transforming his yard into a habitat for them The iridescent blue wings of the California pipevine swallowtail are considered by collectors to be among the most magnificent in North America. For centuries …
As the California pipevine plant was displaced from San Francisco by urban sprawl, the California pipevine swallowtail, which relies on the pipevine plant to feed its caterpillars, also disappeared. That is, until a biologist named Tim Wong made it his mission to repopuplate the species in his own backyard.
Armed only with a cutting of California pipevine from the San Francisco Botanical Garden, Tim created a screened in butterfly enclosure in his backyard and began to reproduce California pipevines.
As new butterflies were born, Tim would donate them to the San Francisco Botanical Gardens where their pipevine host plant could still be found.
“At first he brought them in by the hundreds. Now he brings them in by the thousands every few months.”
While most of us don’t have the power to create habitat for endangered rhinos or tigers, anyone with a little bit of outdoor space can help create habitat for endangered insects!
You can:
-plant a pollinator garden with native nectar-producing plants
-plant host plants of local butterfly species
-leave piles of fallen leaves or sticks in your yard as habitat for native bees
-avoid using pesticides (or use them as sparingly as possible) around your home and yard
“Improving habitat for native fauna is something anyone can do. Conservation and stewardship can start in your very own backyard.” -Tim Wong
Something that I realised when I first started getting more into transfeminism that really made it click for me is that even when people say "trans women are women", they rarely actually mean that. Even a lot of trans women don't fully believe it when they say it, even if they don't realise.
We're still expected to act like a third gender. Sure you fall more into the group of "woman" than the average born male but a lot of the time there's still an implicit understanding that you are to not push too hard on being a real woman. If you talk about the misogyny you face, the ways you enjoy engaging with womanhood, or start happily taking up space, people will often get weirded out. They'll look at you funny, or they may verbalise disgust. A trans woman might be a woman, but it gets awkward when it becomes apparent that the woman in question genuinely believes it to be true and doesn't just want to be humoured.
I fell into this trap for a long time. I would feel uncomfortable even calling myself a woman sincerely because it felt like I was doing something wrong. I was encroaching. I was pushing my luck with what was acceptable for a pseudo-woman to do. If you are a trans woman who feels like this, like you're a separate category of person than just a plain woman, you have to realise something. If your joy makes people disgusted or uncomfortable, that's their problem. Make them uncomfortable, make them squirm (assuming it's physically safe of course). You owe these people nothing. You are a woman, full stop. Embracing that fact without shame or asterisks does wonders for your self esteem.

I don't want to talk about the 1000 days because I died a thousand times over during those days. They ripped my soul from me, took my sanity, and killed everything beautiful I saw. It's just a number the world talks about today and forgets tomorrow, even though tomorrow will be worse because it's 1001, meaning tomorrow there will be death, hunger, fear, poverty, and oppression. Nothing will change except that we keep getting worse and worse and worse. The whole world is showing sympathy today, but tomorrow they'll forget, even as our extermination and killing continue.
These are the types of words that will be in history books, the type of people your grandchildren will ask you what you did about.

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
btw this is maybe the single most key distinguishing feature of the terfy strains of radical feminism, the seed all the rest of it springs out of: they have absolutely no faith in the ability of feminism to actually destroy patriarchy. they do not think feminism can truly build a better world. they cannot really even imagine that possibility. they think patriarchy is an inevitable natural consequence of unchangeable biological facts, and therefore the goal of feminism can only be to mitigate the worst effects of patriarchy, not to get rid of it.
they can imagine a society where women get some designated safe spaces without men around. they cannot imagine a society where the presence of men is not inherently a danger to women.
i keep telling people that of course i'm going to socialize and try to make friends again one day when i heal from the last shitty friends i had but. i think i'm just doing that thing where i play normal so people will leave me alone. i don't think i actually want to try anymore. i've been trying to be social and make friends since i was little because people tell me i'm supposed to but i just keep getting bullied and used and hurt. i'm 41 and i'm so tired can i not just rest?
