He all but says he does realize he’s been treating Toriel poorly at the end of the chapter. He just doesn’t say it explicitly because he’s talking to their goddamn kid and isn’t going to go into a full self-therapy session discussing every bit of his emotional revelations at this point. This is a story and these characters are meant to be at least a little realistic, he’s not going to sit there and monologue at his child about how he feels about all of the issues in his life in-depth now that he’s had this stint in the Dark World, because that’d be weird. You, as the player, are meant to be able to interpret the finer details of how characters are feeling by the things they do say out loud.
