Can you imagine how does it feel to swim in an archaeological site? Well, you can experience it yourselves by visiting the sanctuary of Ira Akraias-Limenias. The worship on the sea began in the Geometrical era; in 800 b.C. the first vaulted shrine of Ira was built there –unfortunately nothing remains intact nowadays. During the 6th century b.C. a new shrine of Dorian order was built right next to the old one. The chapel of Agios Ioannis oversees the small bay with the cold and deep waters that fills with tourists every summer.top
