"So, remind me what exactly it is you do for a living, Lance?" Jess would ask, coming to his semi-serious friend.
Lance raised a brow when he was asked. “Could have sworn I’ve told you that but I’ll answer it. I used to be in a small neutral organization for mercenaries. Though due some…. problems.” He looked away for a moment before shaking his head. “I basically take jobs that requires assistance from a neutral party. I guess you can say it’s bounty hunting but with side quests or something.” He responded.
“Why do you ask?” He questioned.
“Well, I think they’re all adopted, or something of the such, it’s an undiscussed lore…” Jess stated, before taking the horns and placing them upon his own head.
“I’ll be the horned avenger in your stead.”
Lance stayed quiet for a moment before shaking his head. “Nah…not going to overthink that lore….” He muttered to himself. He looked over at Jess, tilting his head a bit. “…was that suppose to be a reference to something or a joke?” Lance questioned, raising his eye a little.
Jess looked back, giving a look of sheer cockiness, taking a moment to respond.
“I have no idea what you mean, Lance. Now, how about we meet the queen, eh? We have many plans to discuss.”
He would rolled his eyes with annoyance in his expression. Lance took a deep breath before keeping a neutral expression.
“Yeah yeah…hopefully the Queen will be fine with two strangers proving some assistance. Even if this world is…more paperish…still don’t understand how folks can handle being flat and two-dimensional..” He muttered the last part as he starts to walk.
Moving around seemed quite unique…it felt like natural walking, but the dimensions of his body made it seem rather robust. Perhaps it would be better to just pay no mind to it and focus on the destination, so his mind could adjust to it being natural for now.
It seemed as though Jess had the right mindset as he was already making his way ahead of Lance.
Lance was annoyed that the world’s different dimensional was effecting his ability to move around, it was a surprised he made any progress at all. This was something he never had to deal with. He noticed that Jess was ahead of him before rolling his eyes.
“…how the hel-” He thinks for a moment before continuing. “…heck…are you able to walk around? It feels like trying to walk around while being heavily numb…” He questioned as he tried to move faster which resulted him to struggle more.
“I’m a being made to handle different universes and their physical differences Lance. You’re not, therefore I’m a lot more adjustable to this than you. I’m like a squid, and you’re an octopus.” He stated.
“If you want some advice, take it slow, like a marching pattern. If you try too hard you’re going to get your legs tied up.”
“Hmph. Since when are you the type to use analogies? Regardless…this world is a lot more different than most places I’ve seen and entered…granted the whole two-dimensional or in this dimension’s case…being a living piece of paper just feels a lot weirder and harder.” He retorted with a bit of sass in his tone. Lance stopped for a moment before starting to walk slower, taking Jess’ advice. “…also how would I tie my legs up if I’m paper? Unless you’ve seen someone did that before..huh?” He questioned.
“Well, you certainly are a lot lighter when you’re made of paper…and yet you still retain your body weight, as seen with a few bulkier people of paper…it’s strange, I can’t really say.” He would shrug.
When Lance questioned on how someone would tie their legs up and trip, Jess would merely gance at him monotone-like before looking back forward.
“Yeah...I’ve noticed that. Questioning realities or other universes is a total pain in the rear end. Especially when you try to ignore it but it’s bugging you. Even with the fact this isn’t the first time traveling to a different universe.” Lance admitted with a light sigh. He raised a brow while remaining quiet for a moment. “. . .” He response with a chuckle. “...well...I guess it’s better for that to happen when your paper instead of turned into a different being...”
