Hi Mr Dillon! Iâm here to help paint the RV! My dad said weâd have to clean it first which might take a while so I didnât actually buy the pain proper, but I have a bunch of scrubbing brushes, car wash soap, spray on primer paint, and masking tape so we can block off any paint designs! Do you think your neighbors would prefer it to look like a little cottage or is a simple & sleek paint job gonna fly by them better? I have inspo photos for both
-@shelly-petrol
Ah, convenient to have someone who knows something about it in your pocket. I wouldnât have thought of that, but it does make sense. Iâm sure my neighbors wonât care which we go with so long as it doesnât look like an old broken down piece of junk anymore though.
He said I should use a power washer, but Iâm not goin out and buying one just to use one time lol. Scrubbing seems to be working, albeit slowly! Tbh with how long this is taking something simple might be better. Bricks, fake shutters, and planters are cute but they also take way longer to do
A bit of elbow grease works just fine. It IS a job though certainly. Iâm more than fine with something simple. If inspiration strikes once the base coat it on, weâll cross that bridge when we get there.

how is the RV situation going
Roughly the same. I believe I will be asking Shelly to help me paint it. Phil is still avoiding me. The receptionist where he works tells me heâs out of office, but frankly I doubt it.
Lmk anytime! Happy to be doing something useful outside of work :)
Whenever youâre free will be fine. One of the perks of being the sole proprietor of a business is setting my own schedule, I can work around whatever other plans you may have.
I should be able to drop by on Tuesday! How much paint do you think we need lol? I can pick it up on my way over
Iâm not entirely sure. This sort of project isnât in my usual lineup. Searching online has answers all over the place. I suppose weâd better over prepare rather than run out of paint halfway through thoughâŚ

if itâs nice inside you can rent it out tiny home style, or use it as a guest house tiny home style
I canât rent out a vehicle I donât own. At least I donât think I can. And if I could, who would want to live in my driveway? It doesnât run, unless I have it towed, I canât move it. And if Iâm not mistaken, the only place I could legally have it towed to is an impound anyway, which I specifically didnât want to do. It does look to have been furnished as a tiny home though. Thereâs a permanent bed instead of the pull down behind the dinette and it looks like the kitchenette has seen an upgrade. I havenât checked to see if that works yet. The generator is empty and I donât think I have a long enough extension cord to hook up to.
Pretty sure I saw worse when looking at places with my dad lmao. A few years ago I saw a listing for one of those old windows over a bedroom door with a twin mattress laid on top as a âshared living space arrangementâ for $300 and people were actually signing up interested in renting it. If you solve the legal part & list it cheap enough, youâll get takers. Even without the working kitchenette lol
That is⌠terrible. Frankly if it were mine to sell, Iâd consider selling it for the unpaid taxes due and whatever it costs to move or repair it. Iâm not joking when I say I thought my cousin had left it abandoned in the mountains somewhere. The inside is nice, but it looks dreadful on the exterior, and itâs over twenty years old besides. But surely someone mechanically inclined would want it as their project RV. Or someone particularly thrifty COULD live in it as is I suppose.
Yeah⌠a lot of the places were pretty bad. Ugh Iâm not 100% sure the place we wound up with is entirely legal either but whatevs. Itâs cheap enough for us & not filled with mold or bugs so yay. Good luck with the RV tho, if you think itâd help with the nosy neighbors I could help cover it in paint so it at least doesnât look as awful. Obv wouldn't fix any actual problems with the exterior but itâd be something lol
Cleaning and painting would make it look quite a bit better, but I don't know that I'm really feeling charitable enough toward my cousin at the moment for us to do free work on his RV. But I suppose it WOULD help me keep out of trouble with the HOA.
Just lmk, you helped me out a ton helping my dad get a job. Doing a bit of painting is the least I can do lol
Let me give Philip one more day to answer his phone, and if I still haven't heard from him, we'll take matters into our own hands as it were. I appreciate your assistance Shelly. You'll have certainly earned that end of summer bonus check this year.

I think Dillon needs some calming tea, he seems super on edge from the RV
@dillon-q-cumberbatch, care to come by for a cup?
Well I wouldnât mind a cup of tea, but I donât know that âon edgeâ is really the way to describe it. Baffled, at this point as much as anything. I was rightfully angry at first though.
Why's it got you in such a tizzy, anyway? Was it just that it blocked your car at a bad time?
Well, that certainly didnât help matters. I suppose Iâm just irritable at the assumption that Iâll take care of⌠whatever this is, without even asking. And in fact avoiding even speaking to me about it. My neighborhood has a home ownerâs association, do you know how much a HOA loathes a non-running vehicle? The fines are going to be horrendous. Iâm already on thin ice with the garden, and now I have a junky RV sitting in full view of my nosiest neighbors.
Oh, pish, those things are nothing but trouble and don't understand reality. Let them scream at trees. And it was indeed overly presumptuous of your cousin to just dump it on you, but perhaps that reflects a degree of trust as well.
Regardless, you have it now, and therefore you have something which you didn't before.
Leila, I donât have the title. The only thing I have that I didnât have before is a problem. Although having the title might be worse. I donât know who would be responsible for the unpaid taxes if I did. Or how much theyâd cost.
Ah yes. Paper. I seem to recall that there's a form one can fill out in that situation, if they explain things. Not certain it would work for this exact situation but it could be worth a try. It's worked for a similar matter.
I think thereâs something to be done for abandoned vehicles specifically, but you need to make documented attempts to contact the owner. I simply am unfamiliar.
Well, you have tried to call him, yes? There's that for that.
I have. Multiple times. And I probably won't do anything until I do speak to him. It isn't only a matter of what's legal to do. I am... something of the family peace keeper, and there would surely be hard feelings. If not from Phillip then surely from some other cousin or another that wanted a free camper.

Do you think he ditched it cause of illegal activity? Maybe thereâs drugs hidden in the engine or somethin
There is an empty bird nest in the engine. I havenât seen anything to indicate anything illegal. Aside from not paying his taxes on it for the last six years.
Upon further examination of this stupid RV, the inside is much nicer than the outside. Phillip must have been remodeling it before whatever happened happened. I wonder why on earth he didn't start with the engine. What use is a newly remodeled RV that doesn't run?
