All this narrative does is create an environment where people are too afraid to reach out for help. Where people worry that their disabilities means God doesn’t love them or that they’re just so wicked and terrible people. All it does is alienate people from the Church, alienate people from their faith community, alienate people from God, and it puts people at real risk if they don’t get treatment and support.
