His hazel light up when he spots the Reverent’s Mrs he always wanted to join Helen and her husband in their travels, Ned being lonely after losing Maud. he tried to invest in making close friends of the latter religious family. It went completely over his head that he was not welcome as far as Mrs.Lovejoy was concerned.

Flanders preferred not to dabble in that area himself but that was not to say he could not admire the boy’s work. It was impressive. ❛ What does it do? ❜

❛ Might I say, Mrs. Watterson, your two boys and your daughter are all mighty neat kids! Why I think they are just dandy! ❜ He had only seen them with Rod and Todd briefly but they all seemed to be playing together quite well. It was nice to see his boys making friends, especially as they were often picked on for having a softer temperament than most children.

Ned was lonely after losing Maud and it would be great to have another family to hang out with, other than The Simpsons who always turned him down. ❛ I don’t like to ask, on account that it’d inconvenience you in anyway but...; would you and your family like to come camping with the Flanders clan? ❜
