((If you follow me on my main @/dreamsofalife, you've already heard this, but; the Bear Brook victims are all identified. Known for 25 years only as "the middle child", Bear Brook Jane Doe 2000 was identified as Rea Rasmussen, age unknown but estimated between 2 and 4. Her mother, Pepper Reed, is also believed to be one of the victims of Terry Rasmussen, the chameleon killer and unfortunately the biological father of Rea.
The other victims in this case in particular were 33 year-old Marlyse Honeychurch and her two daughters, Sarah McWaters and Marie Vaughn. Their remains were discovered in 1985 in Bear Brook Park, Allenstown and identified in 2019. Rea was the last to be found and the last to be identified, but she was never once forgotten about or unloved. Investigators gave her the nicknames Anita Moon and Angel as a way of giving her some kind of identity to hold onto. You don't give someone the name Angel unless you love them.
There are no known photos of Rea, but in her composite image, you can see the face of an innocent, curious young girl who looks up at you, as if asking, "do you know me?" We don't know much about her when she was alive, but as a person who's had toddler nieces and nephews since I was 15, I can tell you that even if they test your patience, they melt your heart. They're just learning everything for the first time and it's so new and beautiful, but unfortunately that's where it all ended.
Pepper Reed is still considered a missing person and disappeared around 1976 and was last seen by family in Texas at Christmas of 1975. Rea was born in Orange County, California and was discovered in Allenstown, New Hampshire, so Pepper could be anywhere between those two locations or more.

((Jane's grandma on her dad's side is a tour guide at Gettysburg and has been in the historical society for several decades. When the girls were younger, they'd go up every summer to spend time with them and they'd always take the tour together. Jane actually thinks the war was interesting and especially was into the technology specifically developed for it, as well as different battle strategies. I kinda feel like she could fight the battle on her own by now.))

"No? Honestly, I don't think any of us really know, but it seems to function like magic? At least as long as we're in it; we don't have physical needs, but we feel sensations, pain, and our own thoughts and emotions." She wishes there was another way to explain it, make it make sense, but there's unfortunately, no way to explain something one doesn't understand.
"Basically? Our minds were transferred into this kind of...cyber world? We're surrounded and made up of tiny ribbons of light and color that make up our bodies and surroundings. Inside, all of our knowledge and thoughts are sort of kept and stored in these new bodies of light."
"How strange..." Inka wondered if the same would apply to her? Probably not. Her mind hadn't been trapped here through...a headset. It had been through a magical spell instead. Whisking her into a new realm entirely. It was...a lot. But she could manage for now. At least she could take comfort in knowing Zazz was probably trying to figure a way out for her.
"So...kind of like a golem then?" At least that's how Inka interpreted it. "But less rocky and more flesh?" Or what appeared to be flesh anyway. It would just simply take Inka time to absorb and understand all of this.
If only they were all that lucky. One thing could be said for this new situation, she seemed to take it in stride and react far better than most of them had so far. Good thing, too; Jane didn't want to have to bring up abstraction this early.
"I...sort of? But you're living it instead of controlling it?" A hoof went to rest on her head in frustration. "I wish I knew how to make it all make sense. I guess...it's sort of like how in The Lady of Shallott, the princess felt like she was living the lives she saw in her magic mirror, but she was locked up in her tower instead?"
"Suuuuure, Jax can make everyone go Big Game Hunting and nobody bats an eye, but when I dare to suggest reenacting Gettysburg, suddenly I'm the monster??"
“Could launch you into the sky,” Jax shrugged, his arms perched behind his head as he measured the distance with his half lidded eyes. “That’ll really give you a bird’s eye view, just not for long.” His legs had already sprung back, as if he was about to.
Whipping around to stare deadpan into his eyes, despite the initial discomfort, she grasps the railing tight and leans forward. "If you even think about it, I swear to Christ I'll start rocking this thing so hard you'll think you're on the Viking ship ride."
“I can… change into that person, you think?”
"I think so. Nobody's ever finished; you want to have certain traits, so they must be things that you admire and see as good to be. If you keep at it, I imagine you'll be able to be the kind of person you want."

"Oh, believe me, I could have been way worse. Nothing is naked, bleeding, or on fire, right?"
“ NOT YET, YOU MEAN. ” Jax says, deadpan. He doesn’t bother to point out that he’s not sure anything actually can catch fire in the Circus. Huh. Maybe that’s something they could try at some point. Just to see what would happen. “ Sooner or later, your luck is gonna run dry, and you’re gonna end up with a host of problems if you keep this up. What’s that saying, about curiosity killing the cat ? ”
"We can't die, Jax." Jane responds, equally deadpan. "What problems? I mean...ooh, we're stuck here, big deal? None of us can die, all of our needs are taken care of, and yeah the adventures can be tiring sometimes, but it could be so much worse. If I make stupid mistakes, what's realistically going to happen to me?"
