do you like hurting others?
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āNaoto-kun, please. You wound me. Do I seem like the type of person who would want to hurt others?...ā Yuta asks the question while flashing him a smile that implies that, yes, he would enjoy exactlyĀ that.Ā āYou know, Iām really a caringĀ guy when you get to know me. Just go and ask Chidori-chan, or Konoe-chan, or Nami-chan. Actually, Iām sure any of the girls in the class would have good things to say about me.ā Then, quieter, almostĀ too quiet to hear,Ā āWhich is more than I can say about you.ā
Ā Ā Ā āButāyouāre the one accusing me. Doesnāt that rather say something about you? You know, it wouldnāt be very good for your reputation if it got out that you were harrassing people, Detective Prince.ā Somehow, even Naotoās hard-earned title sounds belittling on Yutaās tongue. He flicks out a hand, dismissive.Ā āRun along now. Iām busy.ā
"Yuta-kun!" Nico always seems to spring up from nowhere, doesn't she? Standing directly in his path, she bounces eagerly on her toes, making herself impossible to ignore. "Let's go shopping! Nico wants to change her look." She flashes a sideways peace sign over one of her eyes and tilts her head.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āAh!ā Yuta can never quite get used to Nicoās ability to pop out of thin air like a fairy, sometimes when heās alone but alwaysĀ with a flourish unlike that of anyone else he knows. Maybe one of these days heāll get used to it and not hit the ceiling like a startled cat when she does, but today is clearly not that day. āNico-chan?ā As if it could be anyone else with that amalgamation of colours.Ā āYou want to... change your look?ā Itās not like heās ever opposed to a good shopping spree, but this is a little out of character for her.Ā āI thought you dressed...ā He gestures to all that is her outfit,Ā ālike thatĀ on purpose.ā
Ā Ā But ... Thereās something about her that heās never been able to turn down. Maybe itās because of how alikeĀ they are, deep down. He glances at his watchĀ āFine. I have some time today. What kind of look do you want? Gyaru? Sukeban?ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Me rewatching Kiznaiver knowing that Yutaās eating disorder isnāt going to be addressed at all and is just going to be used as a vehicle for humour for the entire show before being completely dropped at the end.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā as I quietly follow people, maybe like to plot? Iāll drop in your IMs!

enquirenā are you gonna keep playing detective ... ?Ā
Ā Ā Ā āNo you didnāt.ā Naotoās response is immediate, but he pauses to inspect the hat. Once he is certain Yutaās scratching and picking has left no mark, he breathes a sighĀ of relief and sets the hat snugly backĀ onto his head (where it belongs).Ā āDo not twist the truth. You plucked my hatĀ off my head, insulted me without provocation for no discernible reason, ignored my question, and now you are misrepresenting the situation.ā He rattles the facts off like he would any case, descriptive and without emotion.
Ā Ā Ā Naoto shakes his head, tongue between his teeth.Ā āA thief, a liar, and rude, too. You wouldnāt be at all outĀ of place amongst a lineupĀ of criminals. I cannot imagine whatĀ theyāā He glances at two girls failing to disguise their distinct eavesdropping.Ā āāsee in you.ā
Ā Ā Ā Tucking his hands in his pockets, NaotoĀ offers a shrug and something that might ā ifĀ one squinted, blurred their vision ā might be a smile.Ā āDo you have anything important to ask me? Or am I free to leave?ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Yutaās smile sticks, suddenly, tightens around the edges as Naoto begins. Why does he get the feeling heās being lectured? Seriously, itās annoying.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āNaoto-kun, are you being serious right now?ā One hand rests on his hip and the other turns towards the sky. Yutaās voice has a ripple of laughter in it, with the mockery tucked carefully away among the genuine amusement. Itās easy to laugh when you manage to get under the skin of someone like Naoto. Not so cold now, is he?Ā āYou sound like a cartoon detective. Does it really matter so much to you?ā Yuta knows his reputationāhaving some girls watching only makes it better, so long as he stays on his toesāand heās not too worried about this guy messing it up.Ā āEven going to far as to call me a criminal...āĀ
Ā Ā Ā āWell, whatever. It doesnāt bother me, but ... Maybe youāre getting a little too worked up? In any case ... If I didnāt ask then, Iām asking now: Where did you get your hat,ā enunciating each syllable of his name, āNa-o-to-kun.ā
enquirenā is getting upset again ...
Ā Ā Ā āYou presume to tell meĀ what is and isnāt rude?ā If looks could kill, Yuta would be lying deadĀ on the floor. It takes Naoto far more effort than it should to keep his furious stare trained upĀ on Yutaās face instead of the hat in his hand (and not justĀ becauseĀ of the height difference).Ā āHave you heardĀ the things you say? No,Ā of course not.āĀ
Ā Ā Ā Naoto scoffs. It is a testament to the depthsĀ of Yutaās cruelty that he has managed to drawĀ out such an intense levelĀ of anger from theĀ oceanĀ of emotional repression Naoto has spent far too many months drowning in.Ā āThat would require taking a moment to actually listen.ā
Ā Ā Ā ā¦There are too many prying ears standing in this hall. Naoto is a Shirogane; he can drag himself into disrepute, but everyĀ oneĀ of his actions reflectsĀ on his family legacy.
Ā Ā Ā He closes his eyes, forces his arms to hang by his side, and relaxes his shoulders. When he speaks again, it is with a careful, measured calm.Ā āDid nobody in your life ever teach you proper manners?ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Well, actually, Yuta considers himself to be something of an expert on what is and isnāt rude. The corner of his lips twitches up in a cruel, laughing sort of smirk and his head tilts haughtily to the side. He waits with that grin alive with amusement on his lips, until Naoto asks him one of his all-time favourite questions.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Manners? Sure, heās been taught manners. But he was also taught that you donāt get anything in life unless you fight for it with tooth and claw, and thatās turned out to be a far more usefulĀ lesson. Naoto acts calm now, but Yuta knows heās got under the guyās skin, and he counts that as a victory.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āDonāt you think youāre getting a bit sidetracked? I just wanted to ask about your hat.ā And with that, Yuta flicks his wrist, and the cap still pinched between his fingertips, back towards Naoto so he can take it without making moreĀ of a fool of himself.Ā āI asked where you got it.ā
enquiren needs to learn some manners...
Ā Ā ā¦If Naoto has ever met a more irritating person in his life, he certainly has no memory of it. Misogynistic police officers and condescending adults simply do not compare to the vapid, cruel, insufferable excuse for a student standing in front of him.
Ā Ā It is not for Yutaās sake that Naoto stays in this city. Before he can stifle it, a sharp glare flashes across his face, and he has to fold his arms flat across his chest to stop them from curling into far-more-obviously provoked fists.
Ā Ā āDo you always show such a brazen disrespect for personal property? Theft is a crime, you know.ā He drums his fingers on his bicep, exhaling quickly between his teeth. āAlthough I suppose it is no wonder you stoop to such petty, cowardly tactics. Between the skin and starvation, I doubt thereās any room left in your body for an actual backbone.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Again, Yuta doesnāt get along with other pretty boys. He doesnāt even get along with other boys for the most part, and Naoto has quickly climbed his way to being number one on Yutaās (s)hitlist, just by merit of being pretty and mildlyĀ popular. He continues his examination of Naotoās hat, even scratching at the brim with his finger as if to clean off some mud, until Naoto formulates a reply. And what a reply it is.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā .....Starvation? Itās an odd feeling that roils in Yutaās gut thenānot guilt, or shame, but something like pride, all twisted up and mangled by Naotoās insult. Yuta doesnāt starveĀ himself, of course, but taking something heās worked so hard forāhis body, all bones and sharp edges, just the way he likes itāand turning it into a weapon to use against him ... Yuta doesnāt like that. He doesnāt like that at all.Ā
Ā Ā Ā āNa, Naoto,ā he continues, flicking the hat back and forth by the brim like a catās tail, ready to pounce.Ā āThatās really rude of you, commenting on other peopleās bodies like that. I never tell you about your fatty cheeks or your height, do you? Seriously, how old are you? Are you going to arrest me for looking at your hat? Youād better arrest the whole school, then, because everyoneāsĀ looking.ā
lacertisā:
Ā say wuuut? wait, so āĀ soĀ thatāsĀ what all this b.s. is about!? oh man!Ā well, he could get offended ā he could get offended veryĀ easily. but honestly, just hearing those words coming out of the cultivated pretty boyās mouth, after such a long time of seeing the other playing the role of theĀ āperfect ladiesā manāĀ ā itās ā itās kind of a riot! & so, against all expectation & against all honest real logic, tenga bellows out a really long, elated giggle. & then ā
Ā āheyĀ cherry boy āĀ iĀ know you are, but what am i?ā
@dietted!
Ā Ā Ā Ā If it had been anyoneĀ other than Honoka who made that remark, heād have them and anyone who called him that offed. So quickly. Yutaās spine actually stiffens, and he seems to gain a few more wrinkles around his eyes before he can even open his mouth to respond.Ā āIām not ā !ā He shouts, then cuts him off. Itās undignified, sure, but sometimes gritting your teeth is the better option.Ā
Ā Ā Ā If Yuta were a lesser man, heād deck Tenga right here and now. But heās not a lesser man, so gradual social destruction will be his demise.Ā āTENGA,ā he warns through a tense, toothy smile.Ā āI knowĀ you donāt mean that.ā

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā Certainly yes if you want to be as good as I am. You know, acting isnāt just good looks alone; thereās a reason why thereās a thing calledĀ ā putting on an act ā in the first place.āĀ
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā But for a role that would suit you, hmm..to be frank, a princely role wouldnāt do you good. Most of the productions tend to portray princes as a noble, caring figure with a heart of gold, and I think you find it difficult to rise for the role. And anyways, thatās normally my part in the production so itās not like itās possible for you to steal it from me if we attended the same school. āĀ
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā Unless..if your school is producing Shakespeareās Hamlet, then you might have a chance. The princely protagonist is more of a dark, complex character that deviates from the usual trope. You might have fun exploring that part while swooning the girls with your distant charm.Ā ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā..........ā
Ā Ā Ā Did she just say what he thinksĀ she just said? That he wouldnāt be able to pull off a princely role, because heās not noble? She really has no clue then, what he does for this school; for this city. He raises the tone of the wretched place just by showing up in his Salvatore Ferragamo Gancini moccasins. Made in Italy with real cafskin leather, they probably cost more than her entire wardrobe.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Heāll brush a speck of dust off the front of his shirt and pretend that one didnāt sting a little. His Shakespeare is a little rusty, but ...Ā āHamlet is an intellectual, right? Way different from that idiot, Romeo.ā Heāll pretend Romeo isnāt his preferred role for these purposes.Ā āBut isnāt acting all about taking on different roles? Iām sure there are plenty of students whoād see me as nobleĀ over dark, donāt you think?āĀ
Ā Ā Ā And then, just because heās still smarting from those remarks,Ā āYuu-chan, did you come here to recruit me or insult me?ā
rcdiohecdā:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Her playful smirk immediately dropped into an annoyed stare. ā No, I donāt want to experience anything from that novel, ā she clarified with the most monotonous voice she can give, ā thereās a reason why itās a work of fiction in the first place. ā She prefers it that way anyways, separating whimsical fiction with reality. Alex also took a mental note that Yuta probably isnāt one for flirtatious banter, given that her attempt flew over his head.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Dark hues of brown narrowly glared towards the other as she stood her ground. The dead stare in her eyes sparked with surprised disbelief before her chest huffed with a stifled laugh. ā And really? A cold, distant guy like you being bold and open enough to ask someone out, ā she skeptically commented.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Her lips slowly grinned as she gave it more thought, mimicking the sly charm of a fox looking down at its prey. Oh, she would love to see his confidence crash and burn by a lover someday (if he had any). ā Wanna bet? ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āItās a work of fiction because someone desires it to be true, no? I know plenty of girls who would lay down for a guy who had a band-aid at the right time.ā He says it like he knows, but really? Band-aids arenāt something he carries around. Heās not the type to get injured often, anyway, and itās far preferable to take an agreeable lady to the nurseās office, anyway. Then you get to walk and talk and leave them with memoriesĀ rather than a piece of plastic.Ā
Ā Ā Ā An eyebrow arches, but Yutaās gaze slides back to the pages. No, quite frankly, he doesnāt want to bet anything. If he fucks it up, itās just going to make it all the more painful for him.Ā He only looks up long enough to give her a cool smirk.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āBe careful, Alex-chan,ā he warns with oily confidence.Ā āPeople who bet against me usually end up disappointed. Besides.ā He turns the page with a quiet clickĀ as itās released from under his thumbnail.Ā āI donāt need your money. I have enough already.ā
diet culture is so rooted in the idea that our bodies are machines that our minds have to outwit. it pushes for the idea that hunger is something you have to ābeatā, that cravings are an annoyance to ignore or outwit, that the way our bodies want to look and want to be is something to fight, that it needs to be helped to do things it was built to do.
here is the liberating truth- your body is so smart and it is trying to help you. it works so hard to keep you alive- sometimes it fails at what itās trying to do, sometimes it does it in unconvential ways, but it is trying to keep you alive! hunger is our body saying āwe need foodā- itās not something to ignore or supress. cravings are our body saying āwe need a specific type of foodā- they arenāt something to trick or prevent. natural weight and weight distribution are our body saying āthis is the shape in which we work bestā- they arenāt something to control or reduce. denying this is what hurts us most- even though diet culture tries to tell us that listening to our bodies and treating them with kindness and forgiveness is wrong.

hyperdissedā:
ā Yuta-kun, your kindness has touched Nico to the very bottom of her heart! And now sheās going to protect you with her life! ā Sheās striking a dramatic pose now.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āYāyour life? Donāt you think thatās a little extreme...?ā Itās really taking all of his strength not to turn and walk away right now.Ā āCome on, Nico-chan, why donāt you just relax?ā
