Posted @withrepost • @jason_caballa We told this story a lot during interviews for the Remuda Triangle record: @pedicabmanila played a couple of shows in England with @sandwichmanila and a bunch of other friends in 2014, and @ukayslut, being a big Ancient Aliens fan, convinced us to go to Stonehenge on our last free day (which also happened to be my birthday). The trip took more than half a day, and tbh I was a bit underwhelmed at the time (we woke up early and literally ran to catch the bus to see a bunch of rocks), but at least I could say that I've been to Stonehenge (because of the Spinal Tap reference), and it somewhat served as a spark to write my favorite record of the band to date. And overall I feel lucky to get to experience these things with my bandmates, whom I've been with for 15 years now. We played our first show as a complete unit for the first time in a while last night and it was fun, and then @don_pacquing told me that we should start writing new material. I couldn't agree more. I’ve experienced the MRT breaking down several times before but this is another level. At the Santolan/ Anapolis station, the operator on the receiver said, “restarting lang po.” Then proceeded in shutting down the train, doors open, aircon and lights turned off. Then after around 15mins, restarted the train which sounded like a revving car. Everything went back to normal and slowly started to move. After a few seconds, I heard some sort of explosion. Not like a bomb, but like an exploding engine. Then smoke emerged from the front covering our whole bus with black smoke. Followed by panicking screams and pushing from the front row to the back. I thought, “is this the end?” Then some brave soul near one of the doors shouted, “walang mag papanic!” and calmly operated the emergency exit lever, good thing at least something worked in this train?! This is the scene upon stepping out. I coughed, spit, picked black dust in my nose all the way down the station.
