Didi could almost collapse, and she had Julie to blame.

She loved her job, don’t get her wrong. It was a blessing every day to come into work, to talk to the residents who had shown her every day what it meant to live despite the tethers of age; on how to breathe life into weathered bones and tender skin. Didi couldn’t have asked for something better.

But then Julie entered into her life, and like a whirlwind, her worldview flipped. Suddenly, she had her own source of happiness, a breath of oxygen reserved just for her. Yet, just as all blessings go for Didi, there was an unexpected consequence that came with this gift of Julie. What she had failed to realise—and what Julie herself likely failed to realise—was the profound effect she had on her.

So now, Didi was sitting in Julie’s office, counting down the seconds of the clock, desperately trying to ignore the building desire inside her. It had been almost a month since they last spent the night together, and quite frankly, she was pent up. And Julie looked good—too good, really. Hair tied up flawlessly, blazer sitting perfectly on those strong shoulders, the button-up shirt that just begged to be ripped open. How could one blame her?

Watching Charles talk with vigour about his dossier, whilst Megan and Julie listened, she wanted to crawl into a hole. She wasn’t even sure why she was called into this meeting in the first place. All she knew was that it was late, and she could only think of a few better things to be doing tonight that involved only one other person in the room.

As Megan offered to take Charles out to quickly check over some files, a wonderful idea had entered Didi’s mind. If they couldn’t get some time alone yet…

She took out her phone, fingers flying across the screen as she sent out the message. After a moment or two, Julie checked her phone, and Didi was rewarded with that signature confused look of hers.

“What is this-”

Didi scoffed. “Just answer the message.”

She waited until a ping signalled her response, and checked her phone eagerly.

Didi had barely typed out a response. “Really, dude?”

Julie blinked at her. “Was that not what you meant?”

She sighed, a smile growing on her lips. No, this is exactly why she loved Julie Kovalenko. Smart, kick-ass, beautiful, and utterly dense when it came to the world of flirting. “Y’know what? Yeah, that’s exactly what I meant.”
