This is ridiculous, there are so many POC in the lifting community that help others and give tips. Why aren’t you guys after the fucking KKK blogs and nazi blogs?

I used to work at Jo Anns so I figured why not share some tips. Be aware this is for the location I worked at so your mileage may vary

Cameras There aren’t very many cameras. There’s a real time monitor at the door, a couple at the registers, 2 domes on the fabric side, 2-3 domes on craft side and another real time monitor in the jewelry section

SAs All of the employees wear headsets.During the day in the middle of the week theres usually only 3-4 in the store. One cashier, one on the cutting counter, (sometimes) one zoning on craft side, and the MOD (manager on duty) On weekends or after 5 in the evening there could be anywhere from 4-7 SAs in the store and up to 2 managers We were never trained on the shoplifting policy but we were told to “keep an eye on teenagers and shifty people”

Not sure where to put this one so it’s going here Managers are the only ones who watch the cameras because they’re the only ones with a key to the office. If its busy 99% of the time the MOD will be on the floor and not in the office.

If its pretty slow the cashier is supposed to put back returned or unwanted items and usually cant see the door so thats your best time to get out

AMERICAN EAGLE/AERIE LIFTING TIPS

Alright so I just read completely through both of these, and there was absolutely no mention of external loss prevention other than if an SA sees suspicious activity, they’re supposed to report it to the supervisor but not confront that person at all. From that, and from talking to my sister who works there, I think I can infer the following: -regular SAs are absolutely not supposed to confront lifters, but supervisors probably have some LP training, and I know that for most AE stores there is one LP spread across several stores, so while he could potentially be in your store while you’re lifting, I’d say there’s a 75% chance he’s not (depending of course on crime rates and such, don’t take it for granted) -there are generally two supervisors on duty during busy hour, one monitoring floor and cashwrap, and another behind the scenes. In busier stores, there might be three. During “dead hours” there might be only one supervisor. This person will be mainly on the floor, checking into the back every once in a while. However, be aware that obviously when there’s less people in the store, SAs and supervisors pay more attention to individuals. Pick your time wisely. -the LP assigned to the store will probably be plainclothes, and that’s pretty much all I know about them. -SAs and supervisors will always be wearing a name tag at least, supervisors will have an earpiece that you can identify them with. -it seems to be that AE is much more concerned with employee theft than shoplifting, and there is literally nothing told to the SAs about what behavior to look for, only that they’re supposed to report suspicious characters -basically be aware of employees and supervisors and if an SA looks at you then heads to their supervisor, GET OUT. -stores in areas with higher crime rates might have someone actively monitoring the cameras, otherwise the screens will be in the back room where employees are folding and such. -there will always be a supervisor in the back room during busy hours
