I usually don't write my lost boys headcannons but music is really important to me and I wanna share them and I wanna read more from others to 🤠
So probably you can see this ones more for the movie, but I think it can work with the musical to. Maybe a few diferences specially for the taste in each character, but I'll try to keep short and general, if you like I could get more deep in it.
We can start for now in the 40's. I belive some of them are olders than that, but to not make it that for now I'll start from there.
I can totally see them listening some jazz and blues before that, because that was the "rebel" music before the rythim and blues took more presence, and then the "rock and roll" or "rockabilly" in the 50's.
I can totally see all of them, but specially David and Marko, as some Teddy Boys, so of course we have Chuck Berry, Little Richard (this one being important for the queer context) Jerry Lewis (how I hate him but his explosivo and rebel behavour fits them) Richie Valenz, Wanda Jackson and of course Elvis, but I do believe they liked it before Elvis bring it to the white people.
The thing is, of course they "adapt" but only with things they like and of course in their own ways. So I think they could have this sense for every "new" thing. Before Jailhouse Rock became a hit, before Elvis they liked this music, before it was called a gender itself, they just staryed to like the music and this happens with each decade.
For the 60's they could totally like the Beatles, maybe one more than the others, but of course The Rolling Stones were more their style, The Kinks, The Animals, that trasition from 50's covers songs by British bands to the first experimental music of the middle and last 60's
We have Jim Morrison of course, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Led Zepellin and we are getting in the 70's with a psychodelic rock
I wanna say I see Paul, at least movie Paul, as the one with a big obsession with the music, a deep love for it. So I think he is the one that has a big knowlege in music, while the others have, yes their own and great music taste, but it's not that extense as Paul's.
Of course we have David Bowie, The Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, T-Rex and the Glam Rock. Do you see my vision?
And then the before punk, the Ramones, The Clash. I know I'm not making a good time line, cronological order. And I think this is like really small. But I can totally see how they look in each decade, and why they look the way they look in 1987. How they totally share some bands and artists, and genders but also how each of them have favorite musicians, or songs, or how they lead by a music gender and how that affects their fashion style.
Anf of course I think they listen a lot of other bands an solo artists, but I can't write everything I headcannon right now.
