Lost

This is Tsuki.

Last year around September, Tsuki and her three kittens were abandoned by their owners. I don’t know if the owners were evicted or simply left, but they took the dog and left the cat and her babies. Over the course of the next week we had to catch the kittens, but we could not catch their mother. She didn’t go very far though, coming back to the door of the apartment to cry, and my neighbor fed her diligently for months until they were finally able to get off the collar that she’d been abandoned with. It was too small at that point: she’d basically been a kitten herself when her babies were born and she was left behind.

Her mood changed to be much sweeter and more trusting. My neighbor put it down to being in less pain, but I had a suspicion and was proven right when I started feeding her myself in June and trying to get help for her: she’d recently had four more kittens.

Because they were still nursing I couldn’t separate her from them to get spayed, and between a bad work schedule and not wanting to further stress them during the July fireworks, I didn’t get to take Tsuki to get spayed until today (July 20th). The vets confirmed my growing suspicion: she had been pregnant again. I’m really glad she never has to go through this again, though.

Because she was pregnant at the time of spay, she will need an extra dose of pain medication to be sent home with her. It’s considered mandatory by the vet, but I will still have to pay out of pocket for it.

The spay was 30$ and the medication will be another 25$. Altogether I will have paid 55$ for this girl, not including all the food I've bought for her and the kids. I'd love if folks felt up to helping out- my financial situation has been extremely tight for a long time, and every bit is helpful.
