"Youâre wrong."
Pan sat back, looking over at the boy before him, a devilish grin on his lips. Â
"Wrong about what, Baelfire?"
Peter heard the beast rustle off and stood up, walking in the direction of Baelfire. Heâd at least had the notion that Bae had gotten a good jab at the animal, until he found the blood.
"Oh Bloody Hell." Peter said as he grabbed Baelfire and pulled him over his shoulder. "Youâre gonna be alright, Lad."
Bae winced as Peter pulled him up and over his shoulder. A short grunt left him as he shifted and did his best to keep his bleeding arm folded toward himself and away from Peterâs shirt.
"Itâs fine! IâI can walk. You donât have to carry meâŚ" Bae gasped, humiliated that heâd failed his task. Heâd hoped he didnât have to look so weak in front of the Lost Onesâ leader but it was inevitable.Â
Peter stood and started to walk, ignoring the boys voice for a few seconds as he walked into the darkness of the woods. When he finally spoke, his voice was calm, not angry, not disappointed.
"If you walk, your heart beats faster, and you lose blood faster, Baelfire. I'm not losing a lost boy on my watch." Despite his reputation, Peter actually cared about his lost boys, and Baelfire in particular.
