"The fluidity of gender is something that I've really tried to embrace. I always think about Prince, who never gave a fuck what anyone thought of his gender expression or his sexuality, and try to channel that in my own day-to-day existence. I don't necessarily believe in the eradication of gender, just the acknowledgment of its construction. I admire the gender binary in many ways, as much as I do enjoy rejecting it. When I began passing as a man, in particular a black man, it totally changed the way I interact with the world—on occasion I think I hide behind my beard because it allows me more safety than my androgyny does. As an activist, I am dedicated to funding and working with queer people on a grassroots level, and supporting individual members of my community." -Devin-Norelle
