I’m just a girl, in somewhere Canada, and I like the colour blue and using ‘u’ in words because I don’t believe in its erasure. I’ve got a billion (13) cats (true), and I like starting but never committing to all of my various hobbies and then getting a spur of the moment boost of motivation to start again before tiring myself out. I go to university, majoring in english, political science, and anthropology! also i’m in like way too many extra curricular student groups than my schedule can handle, it’s lowkey insane lol. I’m in love with it but it will become a common topic of my posts because this feels like a diary the more I use it and it’s great copium lol. also ofc I like books so I’ll try updating thoughts on books I read and the like in future posts.

Wow, so there’s a some interesting news to update on. Summer school started and it’s now the second week in, but there’s been a huge hold up. The platform Canvas that my school uses was hacked and so my university shut down the platform use for all students till further notice. That’s inconvenient because all my online classes information and such was held on that platform, so communication has been over email so far. It recently went back up but we’ll see the status moving forward. Alas, we trek on.

Only the second week in I’ve already got a buttload of reading and assignments to do. I mean it makes sense since the classes are only for 6 weeks, but the workload piling on so quickly after the end of the winter semester still feels like whiplash. I’m killing time reading books that I’ve borrowed on a whim last night. I’ll also finish up the reading for the classes as well but part of me wants to procrastinate that. Lots and lots of reading to do, I suppose.

My friends from English club have been visiting my house and soon I’ll be going to (my first!) a candlelight concert with them. A string quartet will be playing Hans Zimmer’s compositions, which sounds fancy but Madagascar is playing so I try not to take myself too seriously lol. Anyways, till the next post~

hello hello folks! it’s time for the semester recap part of my posts.

this last winter semester has been an interesting one to say the least! it was simultaneously incredibly packed with work and filled with whimsy and joy galore. I was taking five classes, some of which was very unique in the coursework. For example, in one course, we were partnered with NGOs to create policy drafts for their various project goals, and then had to present our solutions to them (and the professors). In another course I had to create an infographic for the various theorists we were learning about, and me being extra, I decided to digitally hand craft a very large infographic in Canva, in the same style of the video game “Dispatch”. If you know the game, I made it mimic the character profile scene, down to the graphics and digital look. In another course, I had to write a rather conventional essay but the topic was on banditry and honour. It was all very interesting stuff and very cool learning what I did in the process of each assignment. The greatest part about this semester was that despite how busy I got, I still scored all As this time around. I’m genuinely so proud of myself for that, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement.

beyond that, I had a bunch of club work, mostly admin, promotions, and the most interactive work I had to do was for my english club for our capstone event if the year. a book exchange event we hold at the school, that happened to coincide with the day of Eid, so I pulled up in my Eid fit for the second half of the event. I then later spent the evening with my family for the holiday. It was moments like that illustrate what I mean by the busy nature of my semester intermixed with the joy and whimsy. there were plenty of meetings I had to attend for my political science club, helping here and there for events, and the same for my law club doing mostly promos for events as the representative, creating balloon arches for events and just overall not doing anything too extensive.

I had plenty of hangouts with friends, and I got a lot closer with my english club team, and they’ve become more than just coworker friends. just recently I watched the movie “Project Hail Mary” with my sister and one of my friends from that team. my gosh was it a beautiful movie. I went on grocery store runs with friends, fell into a sewer tunnel, did a flip in a park playground after lots of encouragement, reconnected with some old high school friends, and even posted onto Substack for the first time! I went to on-campus events like a tiramisu and bracelet-making event where a friend and I created bracelets and indulged in our sweet tooth. I got a new english club sweater, in a deep navy blue and my name printed on there alongside the club info design on the back. today I attended my English department’s annual conference where I got to see my friends and peers present their work from the term. unfortunately I had to leave partway through because my brother got me sick but it was fun while I was there! there’s so much to do and learn and see, and my gosh am I gonna do everything I can within my means to do it all. my main obstacle is getting my mother’s approval to leave the house, but alas when I’m allowed I take advantage of the opportunity as much as possible. see you all in the next one!!

I’m doing just fine thank you for asking! It was a surprise to see this since I’ve very nearly abandoned tumblr throughout the entirety of my winter semester. School has been royally kicking my ass, three clubs really wear the living heck outta you, and exams have robbed joy and sleep from my now cold dead hands. The good news is that the fight is nearly over, with my last exams due on the 20th of April, so yeah not far from now. I was just in the middle of procrastinating and decided to check tumblr since it’s been a while — and voila — there your question was from over a month ago! I’m sorry I didn’t get to it earlier anon, but yeah, that’s about the long and short of this welfare update. I’ll make another post soon enough, recounting semester highlights. Till the next post~

End of semester finally arrived a couple days ago and despite it all I’m still here. So I know I said I’d create the resolution to be more organized and on top of my work after the disaster which was my summer semester but I unfortunately did not really hold true to that goal for the fall semester. That being said my grades have significantly improved this semester despite it, and have been at its highest ever?? If I can somehow pull this kind of performance again for the winter semester my gpa may stand a chance at improving lmaoo. So far I’ve just been listening to audiobooks and doing some cleaning work around the house, wasting my time mostly playing games, and just over all chilling. I may organize a solo date for myself rollerskating and/or ice skating sometime before Christmas as well to make up for the cancelled social outing I was supposed to have with my law club group but we couldn’t all pull through. I learned how to solve a Rubik’s cube for the first time in my life and I’ve been practicing it, so there’s another skill I’ve added to my inventory. And I’ve been meaning to find a DnD group to play with but I may just create a campaign myself as the DM and get my siblings to be the players instead but that’s if I can convince them to considering their short attention span and the complexity of the gameplay. But that’ll be a struggle for another day I suppose. I want to re-learn python sometime and in the meantime continue to just listen to more audiobooks and planning for the next semester. I really don’t post as consistently as I thought I would’ve liked lol. So I’ll make a resolution to try to improve marginally at that too lol. Till next time folks :)

Alright so a couple of things, I’ve been super sick for about the majority of my reading week which sucks because I had a lot of plans I had to cancel and could hardly do much of anything. That being said I’m still sick but on the path of recovery so now I more so have a mild cold (tonsils, clogged nose, headache).

One really nice thing that happened though was getting my grades back for my one anthropology class where I’m getting 100s left and right — it actually left me quite giddy. The professor is either super nice or just straight glazing at this point. Not that I’m complaining I mean he literally wrote “Applause” as one of the comments and gave me extra marks. Yeah that’s right I got like 110%, granted the entire assignment is really only worth like 5% of the entire course weight but still that’s pretty dang nice of him and I hope I can keep up this streak. I might end up asking for an extension on the next assignment though because I’ve been so useless this reading week. But yeah, that’s been a really nice mood lifter in these trying times. I have to cram for the next assignment due tomorrow on Halloween for my fantasy class and write my daily journals (I get extra marks), and then besides that try really hard to get some semblance of work done in terms of readings. anyways, I met up with a friend the day after the break up, so today, and we talked about stuff besides the break duh lol but yeah. that helped me move on so that’s nice.

I got quite a bit of work done today, including nearly finishing my anthro assignment, completing some extra credit work, a meeting, some readings, and also a few notes for classes I missed. so I’m not really bothered by the state of my relationship lol. take this as your motivation to not let things effect the grind, focus on the goal fr! see you on the next post.

Besides that, I’ve got quite a bit of work to do for school, including a thing I’ve got to do for extra credit which means daily readings, journals, and whatever. I’ll try to be more aesthetically pleasing about posting I guess and maybe actually show off my set up from time to time. I cant exactly sleep with all these weird thoughts I’m having about a darn boy of all things. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to move on. I’ve been in a lot of physical pain lately, ranging from headaches to stomach pains to feet aches from walking but specifically in my right foot. Sigh, anyway, see y’all in the next post.

alright since having a boyfriend I have gotten bare minimum work done, and it is time to lock in gang. that being said I can’t sleep lol. when I do wake up however, I’ll be working on some readings I have to get done for some quizzes I’ve got due soon. once that is done I also have to take notes for a class I partially missed because I got late (I know I know terrible) but luckily it’s the one class I have that’s recorded. after that, I’m going to finalize my pitch for a fantasy english class I’m in and start working on the main assignment itself. I’m really hoping she accepts my pitch so I don’t have to do the midterm lol. alright so those are the goals, and besides that I’ve got a lot of laundry I need to wash and put away, some overall housekeeping, and maybe some self care while I’m at it.

life update time! so I had that murder mystery event set up by the english departmental club I’m in which was a major success and my boyfriend came to support too lol. he didn’t end up guessing the right culprit which is ok because after we got tea and we talked about the whole plot and debriefed and chatted which was super fun. we’ve been trying new flavours of bubble tea, and we tried taro flavour with sago for the first time and we loved it actually it was the perfect level of sweetness and we also tried matcha lattes but I wasn’t a huge fan. and yeah that’s basically some of my favourite updates this past week, and I’ll be sure to be a little more consistent to so I can share a few more special little updates like this again! see y’all in the next post.

struggling with sleep again… sigh. I really gotta get a bottle of melatonin. In other news, my friend who I believe I’ve mentioned like three times in previous posts now, has been slowly teaching me the randomest things he finds interesting. which I honestly get it because the more he explains it the more interested in it I become lol. things like warhammer, and because he likes to joke I’m a vampire for staying inside all the time, he’s telling me about vlad the impaler too. it quite good stuff actually. oh and he’s been explaining jojo’s bizarre adventure series to me as well because I haven’t read it or watched it. my friend is so based you guys I’m so glad we got to get to know each other better over the summer.

in other news, I bleached my tights while mopping so I’m upset lol. it was like a dot and the bottom cuff but still, you know? no tags on this post because it’s like 2 am and I’m not going to bother, if you see this that’s cool though. see y’all in the next post.

pros:

school started so that’s cool, I’ve got friday’s off, and since it’s the first week there wasn’t any tutorials. met up with lots of friends, and I even attempted to make new friends as well. my friend got me lunch :D (shout out to him fr). had a more formal meeting with the english club and got to meet most of the team members (I was awkward and left early but it was so nice seeing everyone).

cons:

I’m incredibly awkward so making new friends is hard lol. readings and quizzes already piling up </3. waking up at 6 am everyday </33. missing poker night.

In other daily news, I got three of my cats spayed, and I’ve been hanging around a friend for majority of the week and even going to his classes lol. I mean he’s been doing the same but it all works out because our class schedules don’t really overlap and it’s fun goofing off. I picked up two new books from the library, and the weather has been splendid for walking conditions. see y’all in the next post!

it was a super fun chill day, meeting new people and getting to know the team of the new club I’m joining (english club). we spent it doing loads of stuff like planning the murder mystery (it got SO juicy and dramatic), gossiping, writing down trivia, overall getting to know each other, things like that. what was supposed to be a two hour visit ended up ending at 7:30 pm so like 6.5 hrs which is crazy because how did time end up moving so fast?? it was really great though and I’m glad I had a good time, and I didn’t even meet the entire team it was like 8 or 9 of us, but I met some of the new hires so that’s cool too. I was lowkey not in my extrovert mood so I sat there kind of awkwardly but I did interact a lot I just didn’t lead any conversations which is honestly a rlly nice break. like lowkey sometimes I forget I’m not naturally an extrovert all the time lol I’m very much an ambivert that wants to sit back and listen. anyways, tomorrow is the start of this club fair thing for freshman’s were various clubs table vying for people to join and hear about the events they put out. I’ve personally got to be there at like 9 for my law club, and sunday I’ll be around again to help with the murder mystery plot again, so hopefully everything goes to plan! overall fun day, got to be social, and walk a bit and actually enjoy the last few days of warm summer because there’s been a sudden cold spike in the weather lol. see y’all in the next post.

I’ve decided I’m going to allow myself a maximum of 3 posts a day, not that I’m actually going to post 3x but just as a general rule of thumb. In other news I got my grades back for the summer semester! they aren’t as horrible as I thought they’d be lololol. I was sitting there dreading what they’d be and how far it’s going to drag my gpa down, but then they came out, and while not amazing and dragging my gpa down 1%, I’d say that was better than whatever apocalyptic scenario I had in mind. my method to not being disappointed and upset at bad news? make your expectations so low and actually believe you’re a failure till you dang near pass out from stress, so when the actual bad results come out it feels anticlimactic lol. I don’t recommend it at all if you want to live a life of peace lol. In all seriousness, don’t do that you’re not a failure you’re doing your best even if it feels like it isn’t your pinnacle of success, your effort is better than nothing. I say lol a lot but it feels like if I don’t the sentence misses something. anyways, with grades out of the way I now have life to live peacefully until school starts again I’m a few days.

hello again. I actually didn’t sleep at all last night, and it’s currently 7 am. yeah I’m fully screwed on the sleep schedule front lol. but in other news I have watched 2 movies and received an acceptance email from the third club, polisci club, that I was waiting on. I mean, it feels great to be accepted out of all the applicants, don’t get me wrong, but “am I suffering from too much success” is becoming a weirdly logical question on this front lol. like I’ve mentioned in some previous posts I’m kind of taking on the most extracurriculars I’ve ever taken on in my now three year university run alongside a course load of 5 classes… so it’s a lot. I have until like thursday I think to reply to the email to officially accept the position and begin on-boarding. It almost feels like things are moving too fast and yet so slowly at the same time. one step at a time I suppose, but I think I’ll accept the position, it might just end up being my most eventful club yet since it’s admin, and the polisci club does a LOT of stuff. I mean work literally starts right away after on-boarding so, you know, it’s going to be eventful that’s for sure. I’ve just got to make sure I don’t fall behind in my actual studies lol. that’ll be easy enough.

anyways, about the 2 movies I watched recently: “the bookshop” and “the booksellers”. the first is a movie based off of a novel by penelope fitzgerald by the same name and made in 2017, I believe. the second title is a documentary made in 2019, on booksellers, institutions, and private collectors of rare books. they talk about the art, the impending issues of the trade, bookstores and their unappreciated but heavily important significance to not only books but history and cultural significance, and many more interesting topics are covered in the documentary. It’s really quite fascinating and I’d recommend them both. I rate the first movie a solid 3.5 rounded up to a 4, and the second documentary a solid 4. it was all very good, and for the sake of not giving any spoilers I won’t give much more detail on them, but they were both beautifully cinematographically shot, with plenty of attention to aesthetic and subtlety. sounds snobbish lol. also if you couldn’t tell, I was craving a movie with cozy-fall-bookish vibes lol.

on another note, I was left alone for a few days with my younger siblings so my parents could make a quick business trip. as a result I’ve been in charge and doing the household daily necessities like cooking and cleaning. I’d say I’m doing quite poorly on the cleaning front, the house looks a mess at the end of everyday, but on the plus side my cooking is phenomenal as usual. I say that like I’m not copying how my mom cooks the same foods lol. no point changing something that works, right? I’ve made mostly rice and assortments of curries (e.g., chicken, fish, lentil and spinach, banana peppers). today for dinner I plan on making squash and chicken again as the curries, and maybe fry up some homemade fries. for breakfast I’ve got these ready-made chicken bites… I’m noticing a lot of chicken but to be fair we ran out of beef lol. but yeah I’m just baking up those bites for the others when they wake up. a long day ahead lads, keep your head up and look forward to the next dawn. see y’all in the next post!

it’s the end of the day and I’ll be honest I didn’t do much of anything related to school and stuff, which is great because this is my last week of rest before the new term. what’s not great is that I woke up at like 2 pm because I could not for the life of me fall asleep until like 4 am. I could really use some melatonin lol I ran out months ago. oh well. besides that though, I did some cleaning and cooking, enjoyed myself a little treat of chocolate cake, and even read a few pages of a book I’ve been meaning to get started on. the book is called “the book of doors” and it started out with cozy bookstore vibes and I honestly dig it. I recently found a youtuber by the name of “emilie’s literary corner” with the exact same cozy vibes of a bookstore/cafe, that I’ve elected to imagine the bookstore in the book to be adjacent to the set up of emilie’s shop! hopefully the book is a good read and I can finish it before friday, when I have to head over to my campus for a meeting. I’m a bit of a slow reader lol.

speaking of the meeting on campus I suppose I shall fill you in on what the student associations I’ve joined actually are and what I do. so like I’ve said before I’ve joined 2 associations/ clubs officially, and I’m currently waiting on the third club but if I’m accepted that’ll make it 3. the first one is a law club, and they specialize in all things law and intersecting it with various other programs (e.g., health, business, environment) and they put up a couple of events like mock trials and moot courts across different universities, not just our own tri-campus university. I’m an upper-year representative for that club.

the second one I’m in is an english department association that encapsulates literature, film, and creative writing alongside it. I’m in the events/academic department as an academic coordinator and my role is to help with planning events and the like. we host things like murder mysteries and book trades, and it’s loads of fun. It’s my first time actually joining the team because in first year I did no extracurriculars, and in second year I didn’t look into them, so I’m happy to try something new!

and finally the third club is the political science students’ association and they hold all the political science related events, networking events and panels. they even host things like mock parliament where we actually went to the parliament to play government for a few days lol. in my second year I was an administrative assistant for the publications department and this year I applied to various positions but I’m getting considered for the associate vp of admin. it would be cool to get this position and I really do want to get it, if for nothing else, then to finally feel like I’m doing something important as an executive lol. but jokes aside I’ve made a lot of friends through this club and the law club and being a part of the team feels like my way of giving back to the student community.

so yeah, now you know a bit more about what I’m involved in on campus. I think going forward I’m also just going to shorten their names to “law club”, “english club”, and “polisci club”, for easier naming. see y’all in the next post, drink water, and goodnight!
