While Gou and her friends laughed and played, their mothers paid little attention to the children and chatted on a nearby bench. The former group decided to play hide-and-seek, with Gou being one of those hiding. While rushing around to find a spot she turned her head and noticed someone who she hadn’t seen before: a boy (who looked to be around her age) looking at the playground from afar. Some part of her could tell that the boy was lonely. Her curiosity piqued, she forgot about the game and walked over to the gate that separated the strange boy from the outside world.

As she got closer, she noticed that the boy seemed oddly anxious.

He had pictured a little boy instead, asking him to play robots with them and whatnot. What kind of game would this girl want to play with him? He wasn't particularly fond of dolls or tea parties. If his brothers would see him participating in such an activity, he would never hear the end of it.

Plus, what made her think that a boy like him would want to play dolls with her?

  Just as Kanato felt himself being pushed away, he opened his mouth and bit down on his brother’s index finger hard enough to draw blood. He didn’t stay angry for long though, much to even his own surprise, because his brother had piqued his curiosity.

  ‘Ayato-kun… Teddy told me about porn once, but I still don’t understand what it is. Isn’t it just a video? Like a movie?’ He titled his head slightly after climbing away from his brother, but remained comfortably seated on the edge of his bed.

"...ngh...! Will you quit doing that...?!" Immediately, Ayato drew his hand back and examined the blood that seeped down his finger. Just when the hell will this kid stop doing that? Biting someone's finger is far from normal! Dealing with him was like dealing with a toddler for fuck's sake.

He scowled at the sight of his blood before wiping it down on his bed, muttering curses under his breath.

He then glanced at his brother, his scowl still evidently curled upon his lips. "How can Teddy even tell you what porn is when he's-- you know what? I'm not even having this conversation with you, you little brat. Are you seriously planning on bothering me all night just because you can't find your damn toy?"

He should have seen this coming anyway. This wasn't the first time Kanato had pestered him when had hidden his doll. "Go and pester Laito. I'm sure he's dying for someone's attention right now."

He took a few quick, purposeful strides toward his brother and moved to hold the knife a few inches in front of his neck, obviously without planning to actually hurt him. If he killed Ayato, he supposed he’d get bored rather quickly. With an overly dramatic sigh, Kanato dropped the knife on the bed and climbed atop his (barely) younger brother with a sob.

  ‘Ayato-kuuuu~uun!!’ He sniffled and whined, purposely wetting his brother’s top with tears, ‘I miss Teddy! He’s my only friend and I don’t know where he is! What if he needs my help?’ The childish teen clung harder to his bully of a triplet just in case he tried to get away sooner rather than later. If this didn’t work, Kanato was prepared to whine, scream, cry, and beg all night and all day until Teddy was back safe and sound.

"Oi oi! What the hell are you doing?!" Ayato couldn't help but scowl once his brother climbed up his bed to sit on his lap like a damn kid. Seriously, he would often forget that Kanato is actually a few minutes older than him given how he did not look or act like it. Hell, he hardly looked like him in spite of being triplets. He resembled their mother a lot... which probably explained Ayato's annoyance every time he would catch a glimpse of him.

"Geez! Don't get all smiley, angry then teary-eyed just like that! It's creepy." Kanato's constant shift of moods wasn't new but it still undoubtedly put the younger Sakamaki off. And when his brother clung to him like a desperate child begging for candy, Ayato realized that he'd rather have that knife pressed against his neck than having to go through with this. This was just ridiculous.

— “Refusing to satisfy your need for a fight does not make me boring.” Ruki had floundered on masking the tone of annoyance that twined his voice. He knew that he was boring; compared to his brothers, at least. And he didn’t need someone whose worth was as meager as a lint pointing that out.

He looked up at the stairs after the mention of the bedroom. “Sacred and off-limits, you say? All more reason for me to examine it. Who knows what you’re hiding in there?” Taking advantage of how Ayato was unguarded, Ruki briskly set out for the stairs.

"U-Unimportant one...?! Oi! What the hell?!" Immediately, Ayato jumped to his feet and rushed over to the stairs to where he spotted the eldest Mukami heading up. Before he could let him take another step, Ayato grabbed his hand and roughly pulled him to the wall.

"You're not going to my room, you hear me?!" He sneered. It almost seemed as if Ruki was deliberately trying to get under his skin-- calling him the unimportant one, stating how he should examine his room and invade his privacy, and looking all smug while doing so. Ayato despises that perpetually look of pompousness on the older male's face. What should he be so damn proud about? The last time he checked, the guy's not the heir to their father's business.

  Knock knock knock. ’Onii-saaann… I’ll ask you once more nicely since I’m in such a gracious mood.’ Kanato turned the doorknob, and his grin only widened when he easily pushed open the predictably unlocked door. ‘Give Teddy back before you make me angry.' 

  One small step forward, then another, then a few more before he slowly closed the door behind himself. He held out the knife, watching as it reflected light as if it was dancing in excitement. ‘Did I ever tell you, Ayato-kun? How much I love you?’ His lavender eyes darted from the blade to his brother, in them shone that bright glimmer, the one that signaled he was bloodthirsty. ‘But I think I’d love you more if you were quieter… colder… maybe a bit paler…~’ Kanato let out an innocent giggle as he continued to play with the knife, all the while discreetly scanning the room for Teddy. 

"Tch..."

This guy sure was being persistent, huh? Just by the mere sight of Kanato's cold sweet smile could have sent a frightened chill down anyone's spine. Ayato, however, found the scene all too familiar. His brother will no doubt throw a tantrum soon, he could already picture it. And unfortunately, Shu or Reiji weren't around to calm him down.

The knife in his brother's hand was the least of his worries. This wasn't the first time Kanato had used the threat of killing him and it wouldn't be the last. As impulsive and quick as the shorter boy could be, Ayato still always managed to grab his hand before he could swing anything at him. He knows Kanato after all so his moves were nothing but predictable to the redhead.

  ‘TEDDYTEDDYTEDDYTEDDY!!!’ Scream after scream, the young boy let out, but no matter how loud or how frantic, the plush was nowhere to be found. Kanato could have sworn he’d left Teddy in the main living room while he went to fetch the two a snack, but he wasn’t there. Stop. Small feet came to a still as firey magenta eyes slowly began to fade to a deep lavender, much darker than normal. Ayato. No one else would do it. No one else was dumb enough to. Kanato took slow, calculating steps toward the kitchen, grabbed the first knife his pale hand could reach and marched up the stairs toward his favourite brother’s room

  Knock Knock Knock. ‘Ayato-kuuuuuun…~ Come out and play with me,’ his voice was soft and airy, like a butterfly. ‘I can’t seem to find Teddy, and I’m sure you wouldn’t know anything about that, but I’m bored.’ The longer he spoke, the darker and more malicious Kanato’s tone became. This was the last straw, he wouldn’t allow Ayato to torture Teddy again. Carefully, he hid the knife behind his back, and a wide smile stretched his lips as the middle triplet began planning all the ways to make his brother return Teddy.

But what greeted him the second he stepped into the Sakamaki's living room was his brother's favorite stuffed toy. He could never understand Kanato's attachment to it-- it's just a damn doll, after all. He could hear the clinking sounds of plates from the kitchen nearby and assuming that it was probably Kanato preparing snacks for his only friend and himself, Ayato nonchalantly snagged the stuffed toy and sauntered over to where the fireplace could be located. Maybe if Kanato fails to find this damn doll, he'll finally grow up.

With a shrug, Ayato chucked the toy into the fireplace-- just right under the logs, deliberately staining it with the remaining ashes. He smirked at his masterpiece before heading straight for his room, the idea of a nap sounding immensely appealing to him.

Just as he had counted upon, Kanato's familiar voice emerged from the other side of the door to his bedroom, waking the minutes-younger Sakamaki. The sickeningly sweet tone that laced his brother's voice was all too familiar to Ayato but he remained on his bed. He crossed his arms behind his head and called out-- forgetting that he didn't lock the door. "Yours Truly is not here! I'm just a figment of your crazy dementia!"

He should have just walked away—that’s what she had been hoping he’d do. But no, he stayed. Why did he have to care about it now, of all times? He was supposed to be a jerk, dammit! But that just wasn’t happening, apparently. She was going to have to deal with him. Stubborn as they both were, only one of them had the energy to hold up his argument. 

She didn’t want to admit it, but actually going to bed did have some appeal. It was just being stuck there all day and unable to move that really irritated her. She glared at his hand, brows furrowed together. Why the hell was he so insistent? 

She grumbled, debating whether or not she ought to take his hand..only for his next comment to reach her ears. “T-that never even crossed my mind, you ass!” She croaked, swinging a fist at him, only to miss and throw herself off balance as another cough broke free.

She just literally tried to do that one thing he had hated her for doing and yet she was too weak to even execute it properly. She couldn't hurt him and the very thought of it was so immensely pleasing to him. This was good. He could tease her as much as he wanted and the worse he could get was a glare from her.

"Heh, so you're giving in to Yours Truly, huh?" A smirk blossomed his lips as he helped her straighten up. "Good. I'd carry you bridal style but hey, that's only reserved for cute girls only. Now come on." Immediately, he shifted his backpack so he was wearing it at the front before pinning the handle of the grocery bag between his teeth.

He tugged the girl closer by the hand as he turned and slightly bent his knees to encircle her arms around his neck, letting her rest against his back. With one swift move, he lifted her legs and straightened up-- glancing at her over his shoulder. She was lighter than he had expected... but the thought of teasing her was so tempting that he couldn't help himself. He faked a surprised grunt as he fell on one knee.

Since it was still rather early in the afternoon, Tsubame didn’t have anything else to do that day, so spending time with perhaps a possible new friend sounded a lot more fun than just staying at home doing nothing at all. Plus she was having a sudden craving for takoyaki, now that he mentioned it.

This is going to be a piece of cake.

"All right, let's go then! They actually serve it as a sidedish but hey, it's still the best damn takoyaki." He then turned to focus at the vehicles passing by, hoping to see a cab. While he didn't want to admit to anyone that he actually liked eating at Holy Ramen Empire, he had a feeling that she wouldn't mind at all. She didn't seem to be the type who would call him cheap after all-- or at least he hoped she won't.

And if anything, she looked pretty easy to win over. A trip to his bedroom tonight was definitely not far behind. Once he managed to hail a cab, he reached to open the door for her.

Ryuuko couldn’t help but tense instinctively as he moved closer, gritting her teeth. “I-I said I’m fine!” She shot back, weakly attempting to swat his hand away. “I-it’s not like I have to do that much at the arcade..” She tried to protest as much as she could. But the more energy she used to try and fight him off, the worse she felt. 

Being sick really was a miserable experience. Ugh, hopefully she never had to go through this again. If she did, it’d be way too soon. “I can go to work just fine!” She growled, even despite the fact she was starting to feel even colder than she was before. Today really just sucked. 

"Tch! Idiot! Stop being so uncute! I'm already trying to help you!"

What the hell did she think he'd do if he actually knows where she lives? He may look at a girl's chest first before talking to them but he's not a freakish stalker for fuck's sake. If anything, she should consider herself lucky that he was actually willing to help her instead of just leaving her alone and let her carelessly shrug her health off.

Now that he thought about it, why was he even bothering with her? He didn't like her in the first place. She's too much of a handful and talking to her was like being Italian with his hands tied up. He could just easily walk away from her now and hope that he won't cross paths with her again.

Just as he had convinced himself to stay firm on that decision, his emerald gaze caught on the girl's pale complexion-- far too pale to be even deemed healthy. Goddammit.

"S-shut up, I’m just fine!" She snapped, though the cough that followed seemed to completely counteract her statement. Her eyes narrowed, bringing one hand around to clutch her stomach, her muscles already incredibly sore. Today was going to be just wonderful, wasn’t it? 

"I can’t afford to stay home..I’ve gotta work." She just couldn’t—or at least, that’s what she told herself. There was nothing worse than having to spend all day in bed with this awful, sluggish feeling. Besides, it’s not like her job was that strenuous. She’d just find a place to sit down and at least she’d be able to…but hell, even that sounded awful.

"I don't." He denied though the way he had instinctively reached out a hand when the girl had another coughing fit earlier proved otherwise. "I'm just pointing out the obvious. Only an idiot would go to work at that state." Really, what made her think she could actually do well at work when she could barely keep herself standing? Either this girl was a workaholic or plain stupid, Ayato knew better than to just let her be.

Her condition could worsen after all if she pushed herself too far.

"Do you actually think you can work like that? You're just going to kill yourself." At this, he stepped closer to her-- taking advantage of the fact that she couldn't find the energy within her to shove him away. Heh, he was actually relishing on that fact but he didn't let that emerge in his pale semblance as he reached to press the back of his hand on her forehead.

"Oi oi, you're really burning up. You really are an idiot." He frowned in distaste. "What the hell's wrong with you? You can't go to work like that. Come on, I'll carry you home." It was almost ridiculous seeing her still trying to maintain her tough girl front when she was obviously not in the right state to do that.
