It's such a waste that Ambulon died in MTMTE. Ratchet being explicitly bigoted against cold-constructed people went totally unchallenged, and the story itself did nothing to disprove those beliefs. If Ambulon had gotten to show his skill to the reader by doing a life-saving operation of some kind or something, there would have been some kind of narrative refutation of the idea that MTOs are crueller, more immoral, and generally worse than forged bots. Instead we have the most prominently MTO character be Getaway, who is liiiiiterally just all of the in-universe stereotypes about MTOs made into a character. And the one (1) member of the main cast who was MTO is described as "amoral" BY THE COMIC.

Ambulon being an MTO doctor could have been used to introduce how medical bigotry influences the lives of CC people too! Nightbeat, for instance (who dies in a way that I thought was pretty bad and unfulfilling) being cold constructed but not an MTO discussing that with Ambulon, especially in regards to how he feels about Ratchet being the ship's CMO, would have been fascinating. I talked about how I would've liked to see cold construction explored more but mannn. I just really don't think JRO would've handled it well at all, if how he wrote the MTO/CC characters in canon is any indication.

Ranting about this here (because anytime I bring it up on twitter I get belittled and told I'm over reacting), but I really think the tf fandom has an issue with reading the room and knowing what is or isn't appropriate to bring up. This is mostly fueled by my own annoyance with people frequently mocking Ambulons death on posts of mine that are absolutely not about that, but it's a general issue I've seen a lot

I don't have enough fingers to count the amount of times someone's come to me to make fun of his death, either on posts or on my strawpage or whatever, and I don't have enough to count the amount of times my friends have had to deal with similar stuff either. Some people really need to sit back and ask themselves if it's really appropriate to bring up certain things at certain times I'm so serious

I'm well aware this is me being overly sensitive, but it gets to a point. And again, it's not the only issue of its kind I've seen, it's just the one that I keep having to deal with
