Updated Proposal: Bloomfield Centre Redevelopment, #Halifax                           

Here are updated renderings for the proposed redevelopment of the Bloomfield Centre site in North End Halifax. These are the first new renderings released since the provincial government backed out of redeveloping the site just under a year ago. No formal proposal is in front of city staff at this time.

Fairview Updates: The Boss, The Edison, and Dutch Village @ Andrew                

Here are some photo updates of the three main projects going on in Fairview. The building at the corner of Dutch Village and Andrew St is moving along great and many windows have already been installed. The crane will likely be taken down soon.

The Boss is still moving slowly, but there is a lot of activity on the site. After recent news reports about the condition of the units and services, the developer has seemed to pick up the pace.

Update: St Joseph's Square. 5450 Kaye Street, #Halifax                                      

Proposal: 5 storey, 35-unit residential building, 6345 Coburg Rd. #Halifax

Today there is a public hearing at Halifax Regional Council for the five-storey, 35-unit residential building which is proposed for 6345 Coburg Road in Halifax. WM Fares has requested amendments to the Halifax Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and Halifax Peninsula Land Use By-Law (LUB) which will be considered today. The public hearing begins at 6:00 pm and anyone interested in speaking about this development are encouraged to attend.

Proposal: 335-353 Portland St. 10 storey mixed-use building. #Dartmouth          

T. A. Scott Architecture and Design Limited have submitted a proposal for the properties at 335-353 Portland Street in Dartmouth. The proposal is to develop a 10 storey mixed-use residential and commercial building that will have 163 units, approximately 2500 square feet of commercial space and up to 141 underground parking spaces. The existing buildings on the properties would be demolished to make way for this development. 

This application is being considered under the development agreement process which will include public consultation and a public hearing. A public information meeting will be held on Monday, February 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the Alderney Gate Library, 60 Alderney Drive, Dartmouth in the Helen Creighton Room. Anyone interested in this development is encouraged to attend.

Proposal: 21, and 18 floor mixed-use development, Canal St. #Dartmouth          

This proposal was submitted by WSP and W.M. Fares on behalf of Mosaik Properties and it includes a two-tower development on the west side of Canal Street. This property is north of King’s Wharf and east of Alderney Drive and the Shubenacadie Canal. The proposal calls for 287 residential units (projected density of 610 people), 6900 sq/ ft of commercial space on Canal St., and 294 underground parking spots. This development along with 18 others was presented at an open house on December 7th and the comments shared were passed onto Halifax Regional Council in a report that will propose the next steps for each application.

Proposal: Cunard and Robie St, 13 storey mixed-use development. #Halifax      

WM Fares Architects have submitted a proposal for a 13-floor mixed-use development at the corner of Cunard and Robie St in Halifax. If approved, this development would have 100 units with a potential density of 213 people. 

There will also be over 9000 sq/ft of retail space on the ground floor, and 92 underground parking spots. Currently, the site is home to Tony Variety corner store and other small detached homes.

Proposal Approved: Benjamin Wier House Addition, 1459 Hollis St. #Halifax       

Last week, Halifax Regional Council approved a 6-storey development is an add-on to the Benjamin Wier house on Hollis St. This will be built on the back of the existing building and will only have minor impacts on the historic structure. The addition will be used for both office and residential space.
