“A detective is supposed to pursue all leads till the end, aren’t they?” More bad jokes? Perhaps. The left corner of her mouth ticks upwards, but that attempt at a smile disappears as quick as it came. 

“I tend to try and direct things, yes. I consider myself to be a very straightforward creature. But I also am not one prone to sharing my feelings. So that can make it difficult on all parties.”

She doesn’t seem to regret that. No, she continues speaking with only a half second to pause and consider that difficulty. “In regards to friendship? I suppose I’d say yes. I am generally the one to suggest we do things, or initiate when we spend time together. Historically speaking, romance was the same way. I can be flexible, and I have a great deal of patience to do just that, but I don’t exhaust it on people that I don’t already wish to spend time with. And that list is a very short one at present.”

“I go with the flow. The flow of the leylines.” Is that a joke? Amalea’s lips twitch in what might be considered a smile. 

“I don’t often go on dates. In fact, I’d say never. Not romantic ones, at the least. I did take a silly girl to the greenhouse in Dalaran. But it wasn’t like that. She was lost, and I became lost in the moment as she is such a whimsical creature. One moment she wanted to eat manabuns in the park and the next she had to see the greenhouse. So...perhaps my initial answer holds some shred of truth.”

“There’s a language to love?” Amalea squints. “That sounds fake. What’s it called? What race or races is it native to? Where did it originate? What alphabet does it use?”

Huffing, she shakes her head. “I speak plainly in Common when it comes to my feelings, thank you.”

“A great many things.” Amalea answers and then, realizing more detail might be desired, she lets out a small, annoyed snort. “I avoid romance in general. It’s messy. It’s something to be used against you. It’s something people obsess over and lose focus in the process.”

She crosses her arms, and shakes her head. “My work demands focus, an unwavering one, and I haven’t time for distractions.”

It wasn’t a true answer to the question, but the detective isn’t in the habit of giving a great many clues about herself.
