Beth hadn’t been sure what to expect but what came had been miles from anything she would’ve guessed. She wanted to tell Destiny that she was several years late but there was a part of her that wanted to hear what the other had to say, though she wasn’t going to let it show or admit it. “Which one Destiny? There were so many conversations that we should have had.” She stated, “We were so good at talking but clearly not with anything that mattered, huh?”
The attitude was to be expected. It made sense. Destiny had fucked up. Wouldn’t be the first time, wouldn’t be the last time. It ran in her blood. Her entire family was full of fuck-ups and she wouldn’t be the last one though she hoped she’d be the last of the Woods. That was up to Arizona. Regardless - “I’m not here to criticize or try and make some of the blame fall on you or whatever. Clearly, both of us have some stuff to say. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be consistently drunk texting each other. So let’s just say what we have to say. Please. I know I don’t deserve any closure but you definitely do so if it makes it easier, I’ll start.” Oh, boy. The hard part. “I’m... I’m sorry, Beth. I’m so sorry that I--” Where to begin? “I’m sorry I literally ghosted you. I abandoned you. I got scared and I ran away.” Like her brother, like her mother, like her father before. “I’m sorry. You deserved better. You deserved someone who would share their fear with you instead of acting like a coward. I’m sorry.”
