Z explained in her interviews that Tom got a meeting with Nolan first. Nolan gave him a script (we saw Tom holding what looks to be a distinct Nolan script when he went to NYC on March 2024, just before he started at R+J). Z said that Tom brought the script home and they read it. She said she was very excited for him and she was encouraging him to try to alter his schedule so he could accept Nolan's offer. Tom has said he asked Tom Rothman of Sony to please delay the Spidey shoot so he could take that offer from Nolan. Tom had another meeting with Nolan, probably accepting the offer, and in it Nolan told him that he wanted to meet with Z regarding Athena. Z said that Tom went back home and told her that they needed to go over the script again, but that she should read it with Athena in mind. And then Nolan called her. We have to remember that Z had a lot of scheduling issues last year due to Euphoria, Dune and Spidey, but Nolan and his team were able to accommodate Zs schedule. She has talked about going from all-night Euphoria shoots straight to a plane to The Odyssey sets in Europe and North Africa and going right back. She said that that relentless schedule helped her not to be nervous, because she didn't have time to think about anything besides the work that she had to do that particular day
