A Bug’s Life, 1998
Voters in Iowa have the opportunity to do something very funny here.
HI LET’S SHARE NICOLE’S WORDS ON THE SUBJECT!
It has been literal years but every time I see Martin’s tweets posted somewhere and his word is shared as truth while her post is not shared it sort of reiterates the fact that we trust men to speak about feminism more than we believe women who experience it.
Interesting, innit? https://medium.com/@nickyknacks/working-while-female-59a5de3ad266
Reading her account of how their boss treated her blows me away. Men are so emboldened that they will literally admit to illegal discrimination casually and face no consequences.
In all the years of seeing this post I’ve never seen a link to her side. Didn’t even know she’d written one.
Adding screenshots of her post. His whole post is there without needing a link. Hers should be, too.
Also, she posted this is 2017! It’s fucking 2020 and I’ve seen his side of this for years, but it took 3 years for her side to make its way to my dash…
I’ve reblogged his story at least twice; it’s time for Nicole’s.
Reblogged him, bout time I got to reblog her.

You dance that close, you ought to be married.
Trump isn't guaranteed to win this year's presidential election because he's been shot at. In 2020, Trump supporters voted in heavy numbers, but guess what? They still lost because we outvoted them.
Do I want to vote for Biden? No, but I will since no third-party candidate has a winning chance, and I don't want Trump to be president again. Unless y'all are gonna overthrow the American political system and government, we need to vote.
It's normal to be terrified about this presidential election, but don't allow it to stop you from voting and trying to stop that orange fucker from returning to office.

Last show of Lempicka, quick hits:
Amazing audience energy; I believe there were seven standing ovations during the show (not counting “Woman Is” due to its placement though people tried)
Someone in front unfurled a giant rainbow flag with “LONG LIVE LEMPICKA” written on it, got the first big pre-show cheer
Standing O for the creators when they came in. Hopefully someone will have videos since mine did not turn out right.
A couple of funny moments when a fly tried to intrude on the madeleines scene and Eden had to shoo it away. The entire “Paris” sequence was so much fun.
Got chills on some unexpected moments- first during the part of “Starting Over” where Tamara and Tadeusz sing in harmony, with him on the high part and her on the low. Musically I just find it incredibly beautiful. Second was in “Perfection” when Marinetti starts chanting “beauty - speed - the machine” and so forth.
Every performance was on fire, not surprisingly
During the standing ovation at the end of “I Will Paint Her” where Tamara stands with both of her arms out on in front of her, Eden stood for a good twenty, thirty seconds or so then finally acknowledged it with a smile and gesture and the crowd was thrilled.
The lighting effect at the end of the sex scene between Tamara and Rafaela got applause (at least I assume that is what it was for; I even overheard someone talking about that lighting effect excitedly as I left the theater).
“Woman Is” was deliberate and deeply felt.
At the end of the”In the Blasted California Sun” (which was extremely emotional throughout) Eden snapped her fingers and pointed at someone, then after the song ended she very icily said, “Put the phone down.” Audience gave her another standing ovation. (People, please don’t be that person with the phone, and distracting a performer during the final show no less.)
The audience was standing before lights came back up for bows.
Speeches at the end from two producers (I think the second was Jenny Niederhoffer since someone called her Jenny), Rachel Chavkin, Carson Kreitzer, Raja Feather Kelly, and Matt Gould.

“How do you live with yourself?” “I’m not sure you get vampires.”

Thank you, Matthew Lopez.
Fuck you I’ll reblog it cuz it’s an elephant strawberry I need no other reason
I'm saying this as a fan, but also as somebody who worked their arse off writing screenplays at film school, don't hate on the writers when they go on strike.
Writers control the story of the show, there is so much detail and fine tuning done in the scripts. Everything an actor or a director adds, is adapted from the script. There is no show without the script, but still screenwriters are horrendously underappreciated and underpaid.
Director, actors and producers usually end up with most of the credit.
Writers deserve to be seen. If your favorite show is delayed because of the upcoming strikes, don't be surprised and please don't be angry at the writers. They are fighting for their art to be appreciated.
Some of your shows are gonna get cancelled.
Some will come back but lose their momentum and you'll wish they'd been cancelled.
This isn't the fault of writers. This is the fault of the studios.
The Writers' Guild has made a list of demands that will cost $500 million a year across the ENTIRE industry. Every studio, every streaming service, every film, every show, every writer: total cost $500 million. One streaming alone could foot the entire bill and still be in comfortable profit. Its half of what Amazon spent on Rings of Power alone. A little more than what Netflix spent on The Gray Man.
The studios can easily afford this. They're just being assholes about it.
Don't blame the writers.
things librarians judge you for:
saying the book came to you like that when clearly your dog chewed on it
trying to reshelve books on your own
yelling at us to get our attention
talking on your phone when we’re trying to assist you
yelling at non-management staff for policies they have no power over
asking for more time on the computer when the session has already logged you off, you needed to ask for that time 5 minutes ago
asking us to look something up for you by the call number. the call number tells you where it is. please just give me the title.
getting upset with us for anything COVID related
things librarians do NOT judge you for (unless they’re bad at librarianing):
reading erotica
using the copier incorrectly
not speaking english as a first language
being an adult and not reading grown up books
owing fines
liking romance novels
finding out your child’s card is blocked because they’ve been billed for books they’ve secretly been hiding behind their dresser
having books overdue
you liking graphic novels and comics
your CHILD liking graphic novels and comics. seriously. we just want them to read.
taking books off of a display
asking us to check and make sure we don’t have a book you returned (with COVID and quarantining books, more things are getting missed, so asking a librarian to do a shelf check is okay! but be nice. we are So Tired and Busy. if you say something like “if you’re busy feel free to check when you have time and get back to me” we will love you. we will probably be like “you’ve been nice so i’ll go right now”)
things librarians judge, but don’t judge YOU for:
James Patterson. Look. we all know everyone likes him. That’s great, we love that people read because of him! But we do judge James Patterson as an entity. He’s got so many goddamn books. they take up so much goddamn space. james. jimmy. jimsicle. just. stop putting your name on things, please, we are begging you. liking james patterson is Valid. BEING james patterson is not valid.

why come they called him “beast” in the castle when everyone knew his name cuz they’d been working for him forever anyway? like …. i would just be like “hey chewbacca-Adam” or some shit, there’s no reason to call him beast … id hide in my room all day too if my employees started making fun of me..
If my manager decided to pull some rude ass shit with a witch and got me living the next ten years of my life as an immortal singing toaster oven you can bet your ass I’d wake him up every goddamn morning with a flaming panini directly to the face. rise and shine, you ugly fuck, time hear a song
The true AO3 experience is trying to remember a very specific fic you read some time between 2013 and 2019 but you can only remember two of the characters, a vague idea of the plot outside of one specific scene, and you have no clue what the tags could have been.
