And you can see it in how scar keeps going around without armor, getting bubbles as a pet, scamming and tricking people and stealing a cookie all just because he wants to do it

Meanwhile grian does his best to keep both of them alive and focus on the important things, maybe because the one time he did something that shouldn't have mattered it ended with scar losing his first life for "just a prank"

And most importantly these two beliefs contrast each other for loving each other

Scar would love grian without a thought cause it wouldn't mean anything
