** Not to be confused with Under The Sun, the Doom Metal project from the United States that was active between 2008 and 2010.

Traditional Doom Metal

Place of Skulls was formed in early 2000 by guitarist / vocalist Victor Griffin (Death Row, Pentagram, Legion of Doom, In-Graved, Pistonhead, Death Row Assembly).

Originally formed as a trio, they briefly became a quartet when Scott "Wino" Weinrich joined after their first album, but he eventually departed, returning the band to its original trio lineup.

Towering Riffs intertwined with hypnotic structures and a dense, oppressive atmosphere.

Progressive Doom Metal

Under The Sun was a US Doom Metal project by three doom legends: Dennis Cornelius (Oversoul, Memory Driven, Revelation, Place of Skulls), Dave Roman (Penance) and Mike Smail (Dream Death, Penance, Cathedral, Pentagram).

Under The Sun released one lone album "Man of Sorrow" (originally released in 2010), re-released in 2025 with added tracks from their unreleased 2009 EP.
