There comes a time when only humility and love are important - you need to work on them. Suffering has a divine purpose: it prepares us for transition, draws us closer to Christ, reveals to us, through the apparent lack of gifts, who we are, to how little love is made in us. Therefore, let us maintain humility and love for God and our neighbor. For in the face of sickness and death only they remain, and the rest of the gifts return back to God.

Nothing heals more deeply than an honest encounter with your own helplessness. Not as a reason to condemn, but as a place where a man stops relying only on himself. That is where freedom begins, because God can work in a heart that is no longer hiding.
