To be honest my most awkward take that I donât always share is that I donât particularly think there is anything special about Korean/Japanese misogyny towards women. And the only reason I donât say it is because I donât want to come across as though Iâm diminishing Korean/Japanese voices against misogyny, I am in support of these voices⌠but it feels like Korean/Japanese people have potentially created an idea of a perfect western non-misogynist society full of well behaved white males when that doesnât exist⌠and it feels like in reverse, the western world has created a utopian western society that exhibits no misogyny and a dystopian East Asia (how they already view us in social issue discourse) where men are uniquely evil.
When in fact, thereâs nothing the western world (or men) have done that Korean or Japanese men have not similarly done and vice versa.
So this over obsession with Korean or Japanese âincelsâ is like a new fake woke version of yellow peril.
Also itâs bizarre to watch people be like âitâs ok for us to make up racist fake scenarios about (Asians) because people are nice to them/to defeat the stereotype that east asia is a perfect placeâ when itâs not really Asian peopleâs fault that white people made up an orientalist fantasy of Asia.
