[With Greenhill, he simply did want him to notice him, which made him started to bully someone. In a way he thinks that it is how he can get his attention, by excelling in sports and that he used someone else's talent. That was when he first started bullying.

He was used to being bullied at home as his parents did not even ask to throw him in Weston. They cared little about him. As he thought that was the only way to succeed.

Behind closed doors, he actually knew that Greenhill cared for him and want to be with him. He would returned that favour but there is just that one thing he can not get over. Edward was his rival in this and he turned to bullying more people instead.
