「あなたに教えたい〇〇の世界」というテーマでレポートと発表を課したところ，高機能自閉症を題材として選んだ学生がいた。認知度を高めたいからと。コアラの国から来た学生。高機能自閉症は所謂知的な遅れを伴わない自閉症で自身もそうだという。

日本だったらなかなか自分のこととして発表のテーマに選ぶ学生はいないだろう。今回のことを通して，私は日の本の国は好きだけれど，彼の国のような多様性に対する大らかさや耐性はまだまだ乏しいと再認識した。

狂気と正常，障害と健常に境界を引くことはそんなに重要なのか。

正常と健常の側にいて，理解や寛容という言葉を躊躇いもなく使う人間は信用ならないと私は思っている。瞽で聾のみかんは，理解も寛容も求めないではないか。

そして，そこにいるだけで世界は優しさに充たされるのである。
