So, tumblr is the next company that thinks that opening up to a maninstream means to get rid of the margins. And as a lot of other companies experienced  before, they will learn that you don’t raise your appeal by cutting things out that doesn’t appeal to the demographic you want to engage with. The mainstream is not a monolithic target group - i consider myself quite mainstream. But i like pluralism, i’m an adult who likes to read about adult topics and likes to see adult content. If you take pluralism and adult content away, you’re taking mainstream content away. You’re taking information about margins away that i care for even if i’m not part of it.

Not sure if you saw the tumblr blog post, but they're scrubbing adult content from tumblr on the 17th :| all I can think of is all the sex workers that rely on tumblr. Same with artists and what not :(
