@unmasktruth: ❝ life is a game, a cruel joke. ❞
AMERICAN GODS ( still accepting )
❝ eddie, honey, are you stuck on one of your little puzzles again? ❞ soft voice rings through cramped space from the bathroom, cutting through normally overwhelming dreariness of edward’s apartment. sky blue slip almost seems out of place in a sea of drab greens and other neutral tones. he’s being dramatic again, probably doing a crossword. the thought brings a smile to red lips as steely blue eyes take a glance at him through bathroom mirror. must be a tough one if he’s got that look on his face. brows furrow behind clear frames, a pout cutely contorting cherubic features. watching him was always an interesting endeavor — a creature of captivity, so rarely seen by others the way she saw him. he almost reminded her of a lamb, if she didn’t know any better. this city was full of lambs to the slaughter, but he was not one of them — not anymore, at least.
❝ you know, you’re going to give yourself a headache if you think too hard about this, ❞but he wouldn’t be able to stop thinking about it, even if he wanted to. movements are smooth — effortless, as body finally turns and glides towards the bed, sliding into the space next to concentrating redhead and pressing herself into eddie’s back. thin digits sneak at the hem of his shirt as arms snake around soft midsection, chin comfortably finding its home atop a hunched shoulder so she can get a good view of the crossword too. thoughtful hum sits in her throat as she scans over what’s already been filled in, searching for whatever lingering blank is leaving her eddie in such a state of annoyance. and then it catches her eye. of course! a bright red nail reaches out to tap the six letter spot, head tilting for lips to just barely ghost over lover’s ear, ❝ smitten? in love. ❞
