I'm also new to Tumblr blogging, so I may make a few mistakes while posting. Additionally, I do not take requests due to an extremely busy schedule, so I can only write during my short free time. It has been almost two weeks since you last saw Zayne because of your busy schedules. Zayne had back-to-back surgeries and is on a one-week business trip, while you were working overtime due to unfinished work and urgent calls. Even so, your beloved boyfriend never failed to message you every few hours to check on you, ask whether you had eaten, give you reminders, and send pictures of himself, the places he had been to, and what he was currently doing. When he had free time, he would immediately ask for a video call, which you happily obliged to, except during work hours. However, with both of you still bombarded with work, you did not want to burden Zayne with a minor fatigue. 

It was past 10 PM when you arrived in your and Zayne's shared apartment, the quiet, but familiar and comforting atmosphere greeting you as soon as you put your heels on the shoe rack. Sluggishly, you dragged yourself towards the sofa, throwing your bag on the coffee table. 

The sofa caught you before your legs completely gave out. You collapsed backward into the cushions. In just a moment, your shoulder sank, and your head lolled against the sofa's backrest. A heavy sigh escaped your lips as the tension from your entire body began to loosen. You closed your eyes, feeling the accumulated pain radiate across your body. Your head throbbed in time with your heartbeat, your back ached from being slouched almost the entire time you were in your office, and your stomach twisted with the gnawing ache of an empty stomach after you had forgotten to eat lunch and dinner.  

You could only mutter a curse under your breath, gathering your remaining strength and standing up, trudging towards the kitchen. You pulled the fridge handle, took two eggs, and opened the cabinet to get a pot. You placed the pot under the tap and twisted the handle, watching the stream of water hit the metal with a sharp hiss, completely zoning out. It was only after a few seconds that you jolted and witnessed the water spilling from the edge of the pot. For the next few minutes, you somehow managed to keep your consciousness intact and started boiling eggs. 

As if a magnet was attached to the counter stool, you immediately sat, propping your elbow on the countertop and pinning your forehead against your palm.

Thoughts flooded your mind, and most importantly, they were about Zayne. You wanted to spend time with him as soon as he got home from his business trip, cook some desserts that would boost his mood, massage him to soothe his stress, and even give kisses and cuddles to comfort him. But how can you take care of your beloved when you cannot even properly take care of yourself? 

"—love..." 

"Huh?" Your eyes blinked a few times. 

"My love." 

You gasped, your heart dropping as you met familiar hazel-green eyes. 

"Z-Zayne? You're home...?" You stuttered, swallowing as your vision cleared, seeing your boyfriend with an unreadable expression, standing in front of you. 

Suddenly, your mind snapped back. The eggs. You had forgotten about the eggs. Your eyes went wide as they traveled back to the pot sitting on the burner. 

"Oh no, the eggs—" you swiftly attempted to stand, but Zayne's calm words halted you. 

"Sit still. I will handle it." Zayne turned his back on you, walking towards the stove, turning it off. 

Meanwhile, the tension in the atmosphere made your heart tremble, not knowing what to say to your beloved.

"I... I am sorry, Zayne. I did not know that you were coming home, that's why I didn't cook much..." You gripped your skirt tightly, feeling embarrassed by the small meal you prepared. Zayne did not respond immediately, but as soon as he settled the pot atop the pot-holder, he turned towards you. 

"I just came in, but it seems you did not hear the door open. I did text you two hours ago that I was coming home." Zayne walked towards you. "However, I must apologize for the short notice. I arrived at Akso approximately three hours ago, but the director refused to keep our conversation short." 

"I-Is that so? I am sorry... I must not have seen the message." You replied, lowering your head. A heavy wave of guilt washed over you, mixing with the exhaustion already pressing on your chest. 

Zayne hunched over, lowering his head until it was level with yours, blocking out the surroundings until you could only see his face. Gently, he pressed the back of his hand against your forehead and then your neck. 

"It doesn't seem like you have a fever," he said, lowering his hand to intertwine it with yours, the action making heat creep on your cheeks. "Have you been eating properly?" Zayne asked. However, when you met his eyes, you realized he already had an answer. 

There were a few seconds of silence before you mustered up the courage to answer him. "I am sorry, Zayne. I have been so busy these days. I ended up skipping lunch and dinner today..." 

Zayne's eyebrows furrowed slightly. In a few seconds, he leaned closer and pressed a soft kiss against your forehead. 

"It's alright, my love. I was not trying to reprimand you," he replied as he pulled away. "I will make something for us shortly. In the meantime, have some of the boiled eggs." Zayne said as he began to peel the eggs, setting aside the eggshells in a small plastic bag. "Your stomach has been empty for too long," he explained, handing you the boiled egg. "If you introduce a heavy meal into your stomach right now, it will cause acute stomach cramps and indigestion. I will make something light."

"Mmm... thank you for this, Zayne." You took small bites of the boiled egg he gave you and watched him open the fridge.

Time passed like a blink. You found yourself wrapped in a towel, waiting for the warm water to fill the bathtub. The built-up exhaustion weighed on your body, and you could only lean your head against the bathtub's rim. 

In a few seconds, you heard a soft knock on the bathroom door, making you stand and sit straight on the stool from sitting on the tiled floor. 

"May I come in?" You heard Zayne's voice from the other side. In no time, you responded with a yes. 

"Um, Zayne? What's up? Did you forget something?" you asked. Zayne walked in, holding a loofah scrub. 

"I'll help you wash up." He rolled his sleeves up until they were folded neatly in his forearms, approaching you afterwards. You eyed him from top-to-bottom, and he was still wearing his work attire. 

"Um, there's no need to do that, Zayne! I can do this much." Your cheeks reddened as you felt embarrassed by Zayne's assertiveness. "Besides, you just came home from the trip. I know you are exhausted, too. I don't want to burden you so much..." You looked down, heart thumping fast, unable to face him.

"Only half is correct." He kneeled with his right knee, brushing his hand against your hair, making you gaze back to him. "You are wrong at the part where you decided that you are a burden." He lowered his hand, gently holding yours. "Besides, it seems that I have been neglectful of my duties as your primary physician, and more importantly, as your lover." 

"Zayne..." 

"I am sorry for having you go through these past few days alone, my love," he softly said, not breaking eye contact. His eyes stared at you with hurt and earnest.

"It's not your fault, Zayne. I am also sorry for not telling you..."

"Please, let me take care of you." He pressed your hand against his cheek and placed a soft kiss on your palm. How can you possibly resist when he speaks to you like that? 

Minutes passed by, and you observed Zayne's actions; your skin flushed from the heat of his touch pressing against your skin. His large hands were extremely gentle as he reached for you, sliding his fingers beneath your wrist to steady your arm. He swept the wet loofah over your skin in slow, gentle strokes, as if wiping away your exhaustion.

And when you were done bathing, as soon as you sat on the sofa holding the hair dryer, Zayne immediately went behind you, softly taking the dryer from your hand. You looked at him with a slight surprise, but you did not argue. A second later, the whirring of the hair dryer filled the room. Zayne's free hand parted your damp hair strands, his long fingers massaging your scalp in slow, deliberate motions that worked the warmth through your hair. 

A comforting silence settled in the atmosphere. Neither you nor Zayne spoke, but it was as if his hands lulled you into sleep. 

After a few minutes of drying your hair, as soon as Zayne stopped, you turned to face him, his eyes locking with yours.

"Is something the matter?" He asked, eyes perplexed. 

You poked his nose and chuckled. You leaned forward and nuzzled against his chest, breathing his scent. You felt his fast heartbeat as he wrapped his arms around your waist. 

"Take a rest, my love." He murmured against the crown of your head. He lifted your chin and caressed your cheek, then rubbed your dark circles. "I still have to shower."

Yawning, you pulled away and rubbed your eyes softly.  "'Kay," you said with a smile. 

For some time, you refused to leave the sofa even while Zayne was showering. You could barely keep your eyes open, but your heart, which missed Zayne so dearly, refused so stubbornly to let you go to bed. You stayed curled up on the cushions, pulling your legs up onto the sofa and tucking your feet beneath your frame to stay warm. Soon, your head eventually leaned to the side, your cheek resting flat against the soft backrest. 

When the bathroom door clicked open, Zayne stepped out, drying his hair with a towel, only to stop in his tracks. His eyes fell on you, tucked tightly into the corner of the sofa with your knees drawn up. He stilled for a second, feeling a deep affection swelling and settling in his heart. His eyes softened as he walked towards you, and without a word, he leaned down, carefully slid his arms beneath you, and lifted you off the sofa, carrying you towards the bedroom. 

He gently laid you on the bed, and you stirred softly in your sleep, your body shifting sideways. He positioned himself beside you, facing your sleeping form. Feeling his own exhaustion take over, he pulled you closer, wrapping his one arm around your waist to anchor you against him. Unconsciously seeking his warmth, you tucked your face into the collar of his shirt. Your hand curled against his chest, and you let out a soft, contented breath in your sleep.
