In addition to my 'An open post.....of Female Supremacy'
A short while ago, I published a post on my thoughts of small, daily changes that men can make to overcome the toxic behaviors instilled in us by society, that are dangerous to women. This is an addition to that post, listing some activities that makes can make to help remove the toxic teachings from society once and for all. Let’s be the generations that sow the seeds of female supremacy and ensure females of the future are free of the worries that sadly, today’s women are plagued with, by starting to make changes now.
- Where there is a female candidate that represents close to your views, vote her (even if she doesn’t represent the party you would normally vote for)
- When voting for a female candidate, don’t allow her looks or dress sense to put you off voting her. If she wears a dress and heels or a turtleneck and steel-toed boots it makes no odds if you’re truly a male ally (or respectable human male). Her ideas and policies are more important than her fashion sense.
- If you’re married/long term relationship/have an older daughter who votes, and you can’t agree with any female candidates (for a better reason other than she’s female/not your usual party) consider ‘gifting’ your vote. I.e. voting for the same candidate your significant female other will vote for, as a gift to her. Telling her is optional.
- Encourage daughters that women are essential to good government and never let her think politics is for men.
- If a local or national openly feminist or women’s party (like the WE party in the UK) consider joining as a member and attending campaign events.
- Male allies are pro-choice, no ifs, buts or maybes. A woman and a woman alone should have the choice if she carries a child to term. Not her partner, not the state and not the church.
- As above for same sex marriage. If you’re in a heterosexual marriage then all major decisions should be taken by the female partner.
- If attending an event for a pro-female party, be it a campaign or even a general meeting, assist in the tidy up at the end and don’t leave this to the women.
- Set up a direct debit for a female focused charity or women’s shelter.
- Make ‘rescue bags’ and give them to homeless women (bags that contain some sanitary products, some facial wipes, toothpaste and a brush, clean, practical clothes and so on)
- The next time you arrange or attend a fundraiser, consider the benefiting charity and if your focus be better placed on a female focused charity.
- Learn about and study feminism and especially 2nd wave feminism (Studying any feminism is a good start)
- Take an interest in women’s suffrage. Learn the issues from a female perspective and see how you can improve them in any which way
- Take a women’s studies class
- Study powerful and influential women from across the ages (Marie Curie, Amelia Earhart, Eva Perón, Boudicca and Emmeline Pankhurst to name a very few examples)
- Locker room talk/male banter -
- Call out your friends for this talk, point out how/why it’s unacceptable and not funny.
- Never let sons speak about women in derogatory ways.
- Don’t laugh at or tell jokes about sexual assault and/or rape.
- Point out inequality where you see it around your male peers, society has an excellent way of teaching men to avoid the issues in front of them, help open their eyes.
- Take your wife’s name/make your family Matrilineal.
- Have your salary paid to your wife’s account.
- If you’re in a loving and trusting enough relationship, sign all property into her name alone.
- Stand aside in all decisions that affect the family, holiday choices, kids schools, moving location etc…
- When assigning chores to children, give daughters more authority/responsibility. This will reinforce in both sons and daughters that leadership is not just for males.
- Teach or pay for tuition for your daughter to learn self defense.
- Don’t leave the seat up, and clean any splashes on the seat immediately.
- If you’ve been asked to do a household job, do it. Don’t put it off.
- If you have kids, and it makes financial sense, offer to be the stay-at-home parent. The woman of the house can make the the final call.
- establish, enforce and respect women only work spaces
- If you have the authority, ensure management positions go only to women
- If you’re in a race to a promotion against a female colleague, pull out of that race
- Anything you can do to advance the careers of your female colleagues, do.
with the previous part, there is always more you can do. Feel free to re-post, add or amend the list, so long as your credit the original. Once again, thanks to all those whom helped contribute to this part of the post!
