❛ Oh my God, I know. It would be fucking nuts, knocking other people off of balance beams and shit like that. Do you think there’d be some sort of wrestling on the mats? I think a female wrestling ring might be our next passion. ❜ Her smile remains every present, basking in the moment they get to spend together. This was weird, all of it was weird, everything was different. Nothing was how Melinda had pictured it in the beginning, nothing went according to plan. And the weirdest part was not having Jules around anymore.

The young Hagan had planned her life entirely with the other in it. They had been friends since they were little, having been neighbors all their lives. Jules’ mother served as a good substitute for the one that stepped out on Mindy. Her family was there for every awards ceremony and party, they even spent holidays together. The Hagans and the Harpers had grown so close in the years they knew each other. And to have every plan she made for the future ruined, Melinda couldn’t help but be sad.

But how do you say that without ruining the moment? She didn’t want to make the opposing female feel bad for leaving for their dream college. Truly, she was happy for her but it felt like something was missing. Everyone in her life wasn’t there all the time, and that really took a toll on her. Zach and her father were busy training to go to space. They could be gone for years without seeing her again, and Juliann was off at some out of state college making new friends. Having been abandoned by her mother felt like nothing compared to the people she cared about being absent. 

Still, it was hard to talk about. So, she’d plaster a smile and continue to enjoy what bittersweet moments they can share. ❛ ‘You wanna go get something to eat after this?. ❜

          It’s  far  too  easy  &&  familiar  to  laugh  around  Mindy,  at  the  image  she  paints  &&  the  ideas  she  has.  It  feels  normal-  far  too  normal  -in  an  abnormal  life  that  she’s  living  &&  Jules  tries,  so  desperately  to  push  this  wistfulness  back  where  it  belongs;  hidden  deep  in  her  gut  where  it’s  nothing  but  a  background  hum  that  she  ignores.  But  it’s  determined  to  cling  to  her  heart  &&  crush  it.

          She  knows  it’s  ridiculous  to  f e e l    so  intensely;  in  the  end  this  will  pass  &&  they’ll  be  together  again,  just  as  they  always  planned-   this,  Mindy’s  friend’s  &&  family  tangling  themselves  up  in  a  space  adventure  is  just  an  unprecedented  set  back.  

                            They  just   don’t  speak  about  it.

          “Well that’s good. I don’t wanna get hurt.” Dan has a very low pain tolerance if he’s honest though high is another matter. She’s clearly upset but what could he do? He is being honest and at least he won’t kill her for being seen as weak. He runs a hand through his hair and leans against the wall.

           “Fuck yeah! You’d look edgy as fuck.” Leather jackets in Los Santos were a staple of badassery. He had one but it wasn’t for that reason. It was for buying weed. “You should get, like, knuckle dusters. That would be fucking rad.”

          Dark  eyes  trace  the  man’s  movements,  enthralled  by  the  way  fingers  pass  through  tight  curls.  A  strange  wistfulness  for  her  own  hair  to  be  as  it  was  before  it  was  straightened   passes  through  the  girl  &&  she  sinks  lower  into  the  sofa.

         ❝  Leather  jackets,  knuckle  dusters  and  biker  boots...  ❞  the  list  is  a  soft  murmur  of  consideration.   ❝ It  feels  almost  like  a  betrayal  to  who  I  am... I  take  up  all  those  things  and  I’m  just  another  thuggish  mercenary  in  a  city  riddled  with  them. ❞  

        Mica’s  not  dismissing  the  option,  it’s  still  better  than  floundering  around  like  she  is  now,  looking  for  any  way  to  build  respect.  The  skirts  &&  heels  &&  cutesy  pinks  make  her  stand  out.

  Ryan’s eyes widened briefly, then his shoulders sagged and he shook his head. Not saying anything, he easily picked up his friend and carried her gently to the couch, carefully as to not make the girl’s nausea any worse than it could be.

  He set her down and crossed his arms once she was settled, tilting his head.

  “Rest. Remember I’m armed, so..” It was an empty threat. He made his way to the kitchen and started bustling around, trying to remember a recipe from his father for a drink that would help with nausea.

              Indignation  rears  the  moment  Ryan  touches  her-  &&  really,  he’s  gotten  far  too comfortable  with  just  choosing  to  bodily  remove  her  from  situations  -but  this  is  a  rare  instance  where  Mica  cannot  bring  herself  to  fight  against  him.  She  already  knows  it’s  futile. 

              the crew stains itself with dishonesty, lacking simplicity; no question is ever direct. two meanings, two answers, an internal conflict brewing at the weighed options of dying in respite of such an answer. however, his inquiry is a passing thought, nothing more. his suspicion of the brightness she trails seemed to be truth, mica never matched well in the crew ( perhaps he finds a likeness in such an outlandish feeling ). ‘ i was just wondering. it’s just a question. i just… never saw you being in the crew, is all. but those lives are dead, i suppose. ’

           Message  complete,  &&  now  irrelevant  in  face  of  the  conversation  she’s  having,  her  phone,  far  too  pristine  to  be  anything  but  new  is  set  on  the  table  between  them  &&  beneath  the  table  ankles  cross  as  she  sets  her  attention  on  the  elder  man  wholly.  

         The  first  urge  she  felt  was  to  laugh  at  such  a  response-  she’s  driven  to  that  point  by  the  predictability  of  the  presumptions  about  her.  -but  it  is  reined  in  by necessity.
