       You always tell me never to make a big deal about these things. “It’s just a birthday…” “It’s just another day…” But I always had this notion stuck in my head: If everyday I told you how deeply I cared about you, how much I love you, and how happy I feel our lives are… you’d probably playfully mock me and brush the compliments over my shoulder. But they’re the truth… But these prescribed holidays at least allow me to express them without making you feel awkward. For some reason you alway struggle to believe how much I care about you. It may be a defense mechanism or some coping technique to rationalize whatever bad light streams into your eyes on a daily basis.

       I had found out before we started dating, that like any typical ‘guy’ your heart was centered in your stomach. As it turned out you were atypical in how much ‘heart’ you carried there… Truth be told, when we started my passions for cooking and baking were nearly gone. I’d describe what I was making for an easy, lonely dinner after a long workday and no matter how simple, you’d be impressed. I had never had someone lust over a grilled cheese... something so simple for me to make that it came as second nature. It was akin to someone being amazed you would blink and breathe normally to me.
