I've grown to despise CK advertising. It's so tritely faux hip and is sooooo out of touch with today's youth and culture. It's as if they are advertising to an imaginary audience that they wishfully believe can somehow be converted into brand loyalists. They conjure this image of tragic stragglers on their way to becoming adults. Nihilistic drug fueled and lost. It's so far from reality. They are clueless. They are clueless as to who they think they are marketing to. They are clueless as to who they want as their customers. And they are clueless as to who their customers actually are. And that is why they produce for their marketing -- ironically through no post-modern twist of parody or intent on their part -- an image of Cluelessness.
