Hey lovelies!! It's been an age and a half since the last time I posted, hasn't it?
My life got away from me in 2019. It was a really bad year for me, both academically and personally. Two grandmothers passed away, my parents got divorced, I lost access to my prescriptions because my insurance changed, and my grades tanked. So for the 2019-2020 school year, I've not been able to attend.
But all isn't lost!! Endings only mean the chance for a new beginning, and there have been a lot of positive changes in my life! My mum and I moved to a new city! Our new apartment is small, but it's quiet, and cozy, and I don't wake up wondering if the day is going to bring more heartbreak. There's a family of chickadees that live outside my bedroom window! I'm looking for a job, and I've started working on getting documents together to apply for readmission to UCSC. ♡♡♡ 2020 is promising to be a much better year!
That said, in keeping with the theme of new beginnings, I will probably be starting a new studyblr with a focus on bullet journaling, learning Japanese, and keeping a reading journal! Keep an eye out. ;)
Oof. Posted to the wrong blog. >.<
dear god the sheer magic of being so invested in a book you just sit and read half of it feverishly without any ability to stop, just gulping down word after word like it's water in a desert and your eyes aren't fast enough for your mind and when you reach the last page you look up and realize you're not decades and miles away but in the space of your own room,,,, truly unmatched by any other human experience
university is ALSO just *goes to bathroom* *stress cleans to avoid homework* *buys on sale bread* *peace sign in mirror while bawling your eyes out at 3am* *always has a cold* *glasses r fogged up* *granola bars* *falls asleep in class* *does laundry* *staples something* *takes an ibuprofen* *listens to the same song for 3 days straight* *no free seats at the library* *checks phone to see how long until class ends but forgets to actually look at the time* *naps. regrets nap* *microwaves something* *has crisis about major* *contemplates dropping out every other week* *buys toilet paper*
Update:
I know it’s been a while since I have posted to this blog for personal reasons. But I have some news that you guys deserve to know. I won’t be attending school this year, or at the very least, this semester. We can’t afford it, so I am taking the year to get a full time job. I may go back to a JC next semester instead of a UC, but I am NOT giving up on my education. That being said, this blog won’t go the way of the dodo, but it might change in nature. I might start posting more Japanese language related content, as I intend to spend my free time practicing and learning the language. :) And when spring semester comes around, I’ll post that stuff.

Hey guys!
I know I haven’t posted any original content in quite a long time. Sorry. XD Buuuut... I finished my first year of college! I made it through and I survived. So here are some things I learned along the way.
It’s okay to change your mind. I changed my major so many times in just this one year. When I applied, I was a theater major. And then I changed to marine bio. And then to physics. And then back to ecology. And finally I’m back at theater. It’s okay to not know where you are going. It’s okay to realize that sometimes things just aren’t for you. You’ll find your way again.
You’re going to have at least one quarter or semester or whatever that is bad. It’s okay. It’s a bad quarter, not a bad life, and you can always pick yourself back up again. And sometimes, sometimes, failure can be good. Because it helps us to realize where we can improve and where we’re going wrong.
Hydration, water, and staying on top of your prescriptions is key. Trust me. Do not be like me, going two quarters without my antidepresant, anxiety meds, or sleep aids at literally the worst possible time. Keep. Yourself. Healthy!
On the healthy note, breaks are key, too. If all you do is study, you are going to get burnout. Join a club (for me, that was medieval club!). Take an exercise class. Go to the library and museum with friends. Get coffee or lunch, watch dumb 80s anime, just do something to take a break. You feel so much better and more motivated if you remember why you are studying in the first place.
You are not studying to pass this test. You are not studying to pass the class or to graduate. You are studying so that the little girl down the street can get a heart transplant. So that the kid you went to high school with never faces life behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit. So that the play that will change a young kid’s life runs smoothly. Keep that vision in your mind, whatever it is, all the time.
Never take physics and chemistry in the same quarter. Just. Don’t,
“I do not miss childhood, but I miss the way I took pleasure in small things, even as greater things crumbled. I could not control the world I was in, could not walk away from things or people or moments that hurt, but I took joy in the things that made me happy.”
— Neil Gaiman (via quotemadness)
today my literature prof was daydreaming about being a existentialist poet in 1960’s paris. he was going on about how he just wanted to drink wine in dusty bookshops and argue philosophical theories with strangers and i swear the entire class let out the most dreamy sigh… i’m convinced everyone who loves literature is the exact same person

5.20.19// I've got a midterm at noon and the weather is only somewhat cooperating, but I think we'll be okay. Wish me luck!
4.15.19 // Ah, chemistry. How I hate it. But it's okay. Just three more weeks and lots of intense studying, and then I'll be taking classes I actually enjoy!
“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”
— Oscar Wilde, De Profundis (via books-n-quotes)
4.10.19 // Happy Friday, fam. I'll be going home this afternoon to spend Mother's Day with my mom. In the meantime, I'm just over here revising Disney notes and working on Chemistry homework.

I’ve been meaning to make this post for a while, and I got an anon the other day asking about particles and a request from someone to make this post, so here it is! A list of basic particles and their usage! I hope this can help anyone struggling with particles and how to use them, but if I have made any mistakes please let me know ^^ (also please don’t remove my caption!)
5.9.19 // The one good thing about being sick is the opportunity it gives you to get caught up on homework.
