love it when Spoke says "there is no other choice". there is! there absolutely is! Spoke very much could just NOT do it. he could decide to not kill Rose. not raid bases. not create an empire. not take the leadership over Null. not go to the End. but he's too blinded by his own ambition. there is other choice, but Spoke is going to choose destruction every single time. it didn't have to end this way, but it was probably always going to, because that's the kind of person Spoke always was and this is the kind of choices he makes

sometimes your distress does indicate you should stop and respect your limitations. at other times it's more of a baby aquatic mammal being introduced to water for the first time thing. Too bad the difference is so hard to tell.

i love when a character with a severe anxiety disorder fucks up over and over and blows up their whole life about it. we have a fair amount of characters with mild anxiety (not that theres anything wrong with that) we need more characters who just cannot function or stop themselves from ruining everything good in their life out of fear
