So uh, I identify as both female and male, and like being called he, but also she, but being called just one or the other feels⌠incomplete, and using them interchangeably isnât really practical, so! I came up with a set of pronouns combining he and she to make myself feel less dysphoric.
These pronouns fit they/them pronouns, but are singular, not plural! Free to use if anyone wants to.
Heesh/himmer/hiser/hisers/himmerself === they/them/their/theirs/themself
Heesh - pronounced like âheâ with a âshâ sound at the end Himmer - pronounced like âglimmerâ Hiser - pronounced like youâre saying âhis herâ quickly/with no pause, but without the âhâ in âher.â Another example is the word âscissor.â Itâs pronounced like that.
Examples:
Heesh is very cute! You should introduce yourself to himmer.
Hiser favorite color is [color].
That shirt is hisers.
Heesh made this all by himmerself.
Iâm really not trying to be mean, but these are unusable
How are they unusable? Itâs fine if you donât want to use them and Iâm not forcing anyone to. But he, she, and they all make me feel dysphoric in some way, so I wanted to create some pronouns for those who are willing to use them for me.
Not to be rude, but I feel like you shouldnât comment on this post if you donât have anything more⌠helpful or constructive to say? It feels like youâre just trying to be mean and assert your intellectual superiority over me. I understand that neopronouns arenât the most practical in everyday life, and I used to be anti-neopronouns and all that, but now Iâm not, and yeah.
âYouâre just trying to be mean and assert your intellectual superiority over meâ
Nothing I said indicates that. That is ALL coming from you.
No, as someone who used to be anti-mogai, thatâs how I understand the community to be. If you have nothing constructive or helpful to say, then do tell, what was the point of reblogging my post with your commentary?Â
To state my opinion on something you posted publicly
You do realize you donât need to constantly assert your opinion into everything, right? If itâs not nice, inspiring, helpful, or constructive, chances are you shouldnât say it. Intelligent people have something to say, but wise people know when to actually say it.
I used to be like you, but posting unnecessary commentary on things you deem cringey? Not cool. Can you do it? Yes, nobodyâs stopping you, but just because you can do it doesnât mean you should do it. Are you or anyone else benefiting from this? No? Then literally whatâs the point?
I grew out of that phase and I sincerely hope you do as well. The world is a much happier place when you spread love instead of negativity. If you think my post is harmful, then say it. If all you have to say is âhurr durr this is cringey!â then youâre not being constructive, youâre being a bully. And youâre definitely not concerned about transphobia if all you have to say is that Iâm âcringey,â then act justified because this is a âpublic platform.â Please have some critical thinking here. I could post about how I just took a shit, but I donât need to. The same logic applies here. Your commentary was edgy and unnecessary, and served no purpose other than to make fun of me and insert your supposed intellectual superiority.
Take it from someone who spent a few good yeas as a truscum, exclusionist, and anti-mogai and neopronouns. Everyone has different views of the world and we should learn to understand each other instead of jumping to judge one another. It makes me glad I stopped being so mean to mogais and the like. Iâm not forcing anyone to use these pronouns, and yet you feel the need to let me know your unasked, negative opinion on them. Like okay? There is literally no point in spreading such negativity.
I think you, and everyone like you, actually, for the most part, do this to feel better about yourselves and take out your frustrations with the world on others. At least thatâs how it was for me. The majority of Tumblr hating me for my beliefs only intensified that frustration, and thus continued the cycle. I was hurt and felt alone and mistreated, so I subconsciously pushed all the blame onto mogai people, otherkin, and all of that kind of stuff. Itâs like the scape goat mechanism, really.
If you still feel the need to defend your stance, then my point really has flown over your head and I see no further point in engaging in this discussion. Have a nice day. And just think about why you, an adult, run a cringe blog when you could be spreading positivity and education on your beliefs instead. If you really think neopronouns are harmful, then TALK ABOUT IT instead of making fun of the people who use them. All youâre doing is making people want to NOT listen to you. I used to be so convinced I was right in my beliefs, then suddenly everything did a 180, and now Iâve learned to appreciate everyoneâs opinions and ways of viewing the world and try to understand them. You should really try it.
None of this was me making fun of you, op, and the fact is that the only one talking about âcringeâ here is you. You claim to be a former follower of mine, but the way youâre trying to characterize how I approach things is clearly not based on me, and (Iâd bet) has everything to do with how you used to behave.
And this conversation is also not an indication of you appreciating everyoneâs opinions or way of viewing the world. Iâm not asking you to agree with me. Iâm telling you that those pronouns are inaccessible and unusable.
Heesh is a surname. Also, itâs extremely close to he-she, which was a derogatory term used to describe trans people, mostly trans women.
I'm sorry that they/them pronouns make you dysphoric op, that sucks. Personally I use ze/hir pronouns (online, obviously), but there are other alt pronoun sets (like ey/em/eir and ze/zir) that, unlike neopronouns, function like real pronouns and follow grammatical rules. They also have the added bonus of not bearing an uncomfortable resemblance to transphobic slurs - not accusing you of deliberately making pronouns that sound like slurs, of course, but they do unfortunately sound quite similar. Hope this helps, sorry if it's incoherent.
