personally i think its fucked that lukey probably keeps finding comfort in someone he's met across multiple worlds, only to hear that she hates him for no discernable reason
like it feeds every insecurity he's ever had about being fundamentally evil and Wrong
meanwhile zam is lowkey showing devotion thru this continued hatred

yeah i mean. lukey as a person is very push-pull with comfort. he seeks out comfort but he also sort of finds comfort in discomfort. u can see this both like Physically on the realm with the lab which is his home but it’s also the source of a lot of stress for him. and then also socially because he’ll Want clear communication etc and then he’ll purposefully mask stuff to see if it all falls apart. anywho
with zam, literally day one part of why he was so upset at zam was because he just wanted to say hi. so he felt like the death was undeserved and unfair, and in return felt petty about it. i’m pretty sure he mentioned not having like a ton of People He knows or that would be in his corner team wise on the server, and he ran up to her like “OMG ZAM!” wanting to say hi and then she starting critting out pangi so 😭
interestingly, he got way more annoyed once talking with vitalasy and realizing zam was singling out weaker players. obviously he doesn’t want to be seen as weak in general, but zam is someone he has specifically praised and measured his worth to since the realm… interestingly enough… heh….
zam and him always seem to know how to get under each other’s skins but one is a lot more obvious about it than the other. lukey will ragebait zam into yelling at and killing him, and zam will say or imply something that lukey will be thinking about for hours after. like that he’s weak, which he LITERALLY was hung up on for THE REST OF STREAM, and then made it his goal to try to kill Zam or get others to kill Zam (asking Retirement). or i’m guessing today, her saying “the way you were born” ??? 😭😭😭. or mid chase, her saying “it’s okay, he’s not that good though” and you can see lukey try to Lock In more. there’s something really interesting about how zam makes lukey want to do better and be better more aggressively than just with his own drive, in an unintentional way.
on the second kill today, lukey was literally just walking around, and he happened to pass zam who noticed he didn’t have his two guard dogs on him and she honed the fuck in. And lukey’s prey animal instincts kicked in because he Immediately realized he was being chased by her without either of them saying a word. which is kind of beautiful and tells you how familiar they are with this.
all this to say. as much as he’s probably miffed about the continued singling out, it also is and has been a constant. not just on the realm, but on multiple other lifesteal events between then and now, and now here too. so i think maybe there could be something comforting about knowing that no matter what, no matter where, zam will always chase him down.
