"Suddenly we're such an expert in souls, now aren't we?" Alastor's voice crackled as his head jerked to the side slightly. Clear agitation at being told such a foolish thing.
"It's not as though Niffty is lucid enough to even understand the worth of hers-- I assure you unlike the one who holds your leash, I only seek what's best for her. Why-- she's the most dedicated maid I've had in all my years. I'd be a fool to give that up." What was meant went unsaid-- Niffty mattered to him, and he would protect her-- even if it meant having absolute dominion over her soul.
He simply had to tell himself time and again he was not his father. He was doing this for her own good-- she was far too impulsive to be left to her own devices. And he'd laid out the terms of their agreement completely all those years ago. To admit out loud any of this was taboo-- he could not show weakness. He was an Overlord.

Alastor would find it incredibly distracting. He's a busy Overlord and really can't dedicate any more time to tormenting Vox than he already does. And yet with the sinner within reach he'd feel that overwhelming urge to harass him daily-- little jabs, passive aggressive remarks, and the occasional straight up insult.
It would truly consume most of his time.
Thankfully-- he has Niffty. And she would love to bother him.

He's bored and is craving a bit of chaos. A simple exertion of his power causes the sound system in the hotel to start playing non stop jazz. Surely no one could possibly complain about it-- except maybe Lucifer. That fallen angel had no taste to speak of. Just look at how he dressed himself!
With a tilt of his head the tune changes to his personal favorite.

It was a bit more modern but still had that classic jazz tune to it. Apparently it was from a musical-- it was one of the few songs he liked from the seventies.
Mad respect for actually writing Al as aro/ace! I feel like nearly every romantic storyline would hold him back from unleashing his full potential, YKWIM? No disrespect to the fandom. I just don't see him settling for anyone, not even demons of higher status.
I'm an ace gray-aro myself so I just kinda write what I know. Asexuality and aromanticism are vast spectrums comprising of various sub-identities that can fluctuate or change as the individual learns, grows, and learns to live.
Your romantic and sexual orientations, gender identity and expression, they're not always static things. Different experiences can open you up to new ideas, and it's important to be receptive to 'em. Al doesn't know he's aro/ace, he just think he's not "met the right gal". The way everyone talks about love sounds magnificent, but also distracting. He's quite thankful he's never felt that way [yet].
Keep in mind Alastor is from an entirely different time. Where a man was expected to find a woman and settle down. So he's got a lot of internal aphobia he has to eventually deal with. It's nuanced, but once someone gives him the terms to define feelings, I think he'll accept it and move on, as he's done with everything else in his afterlife.
I've got no beef with folk who write Al along the ace/aro spectrums, romance favorable, sex favorable-- whatever. He's your version of the muse. And if folks erase his asexual identity? Whatever. I just block and move on, that's their choice and I don't educate folk for free. There's definitely still aphobia in the fandom, as it happens in any fandom with a canonically ace character.
I do wanna clarify Al has only been confirmed to be on the asexual spectrum-- [which is as VAST as it needs to be. labels aren't boxes you need to fit in, but rather a name tag so you know where to sit at the family reunion] and is not canonically [at least as of this post] confirmed to be aromantic. I just thought it would be a fun take.
I still love shipping-- it's just that with Al it's different. Platonic ships, rivalries, enemies, etc. Focusing more on the characters and less on writing stuff I've already written LOADS of before. Besides-- I got @monxcular to throw at whomever. Niff is the bicycle out of my Hellaverse muses.
I am still, absolutely okay with folks who have muses that have feelings for Alastor. Just know he may not return them, or if he does-- it will purely be platonic.
