I for some reason portray territories as minors and countries as adults or elders, and also put social pyramids for the ch in my au like organizations on the top ( like un and nato) , and colonies or territories (like guam p.r and british virgin islands ) at the bottom only used as servants or lower

i dont think that should be the strict rule. i mean imagine youve existed for like a hundred years and everyone treats you like youre 12. that would be infuriating. also narratively that could be taken condescending. i think territories are their own people and can be adults because their thoughts and opinions and bodily autonomy should be taken seriously and representing them as only children can be seen as you thinking they are inherently lesser and that they need to be controlled by a country to survive because they cant make their own decisions. because children need adults to like.. be alive. but like territories can still do fine if ame goes out to get the milk for a few months. so like idk it like. depends.

like puerto rico is obviously a full grown adult he can govern himself and can make his own informed decisions and doesnt Need america to help brush his teeth. because hes not 5 years old. he might still need americas help every so often but thats because it is ames job to help support him because he is ames responsibility. puerto rico can pay for his own groceries and shit. like he lives on his own. hes got his own shit he has to deal with like hurricane season and this bullshit weather. he makes his own decisions.

if a colony or territory is new then its fine obviously a young person is gonna be a child but like if theyre Not New then maybe Dont make them a kid. territories can still live on their own they just have landlords thats how i view it. really annoying overbearing landlords.
